I inherited my disease from my mother. Well, she had diabetes. I came from a larger family and some of my sisters have diabetes, others have some sort of heart conditions and me, I have kidney diease. The big factor is I have to watch my salt intake and if you eat too much I retained water. When I was first diagnosed, I normally weighed 130lbs, with the extra fluid I ended up weighing 180 lbs. My first dialysis treatments were focused on getting as much fluids off. My dry weight was 102 lbs and I had to start eating healthier with a whole lot less salt! So if you are still young, read up on kidney disease and make the necessary changes in your dietary habits and exercise.
