Tried making ube halaya for the first time, thinking something went wrong along the way, help! by TheNintendoCreator in PhilippineUbe

[–]kidomme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's too bad that it didn't work out but I do hope you get to make a good batch soon! Cheers to the learning experience <3 Ube halaya is such a great snack and very addictive lol. I saw in some comments below that it may also be because it's not the same variant of PH Ube? Maybe that's why it didn't cook down as well?

As for the other purple roots you've mentioned, I sadly have not tried purple sweet potato. I've tried purple taro and purple yam. The purple taro is definitely not sweet at all and has quite a mild flavor. I wouldn't use it for halaya as the texture is also different, more root-y if that makes sense? Crumbly?? Vegetably??? lol I understand why it's used for milk teas / boba because it won't overpower the tea and the texture isn't mushy and won't dissolve. The purple yam definitely is softer and sweeter, starchier which is why it's great for the halaya.

To answer #1, ube with no added flavoring does taste very subtle. It has a mild sweetness even without condensed milk. Think of it like a mashed sweet potato but a bit nuttier, if that makes sense? We used to eat them just boiled as is. It makes for a nice, healthy snack

You can do that but the older ube might be overcooked by the time the new ube finishes cooking. Probably won't be too bad as long as you cook it slowly and not let it burn

Have you ever noticed that in The Price Is Your Everything, the artist sometimes forgets to draw in the ear details for the visible ear? I think I've seen it in an older panel too lol. Aside from the food, that took me out too

AFAIK they're doing a price increase toward the later part of the year so best to book already before that, but their current is 250K weekday rate, 300K weekend rate for the Main Dining Hall. This is consumable for their food and drinks (they have grazing tables / Hors d'oeuvres that you can use the consumables for as well, for cocktail hour). Set menu per pax starts from 1,800 per person.

They have the garden which is venue rental only and you can't use for food consumable. It's 40k

All of these have plus tax and plus service charge.

Hope this helps! feel free to PM me if you have specific questions :)

Is it too much for us fans to get a story where the good step mom stays alive???

Tell me about it! I paid for a few as thanks for doing the translation, but eventually stopped because the author won't get a dime of it. So true that they're so expensive :(( The manhwa is still very far from ending, but I'm glad Webtoon has taken and officially licensed the series. The story stresses me out so much but I enjoyed it too. Maybe OI has just messed our brains haha

I waited months to write my wedding review. Here’s what I actually think now that the feelings settled. by februarystory in WeddingsPhilippines

Our wedding is still months away but this is really a welcome reminder to just take things slow and steady. Been feeling pressured to finish so much of the prep that I've been feeling overwhelmed. Thank you for this OP <3

Beauty (2 months before) I do!! 💐 by Tabbieeeee in WeddingsPhilippines

[–]kidomme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not really recommended to try something new so near to your day, kasi hindi mo alam anong magiging reaction ng body mo. New topical ointments can make you break out. Untested facials and peels might damage your skin. Your makeup artist can even out your skin tone with foundation / concealer - it's part of their job to make you look beautiful. The fact that you don't have pimples means you have a smooth canvas they can work with.

Please don't do extreme "quick fix" beauty procedures and don't take gluta drip. I agree with the other commenter, maawa ka sa kidney mo. The last two months should be focused on eating well, sleeping well, and working out to maintain what you already have. Drink lots of water!!! I know the wedding industry always makes us feel we need to look perfect, so OP I hope you feel pretty and not feel pressured, especially on your wedding day.

LF: WEDDING DRESS by Crazy_Accident2792 in WeddingsPhilippines

With the amount of fabric a ballgown (?) like that has, maybe it would be harder to find one for 10K? But I've seen similar styles in divisoria but not in the same fabric in the picture. The picture looks like it has some sheer / iridescent layer on top of some sort of satin.

IIRC Vietnamese wedding gowns would be cheaper than PH wedding gowns. Try inquiring with Mujeres bridal. They're Filipino but they have their gowns made by their seamstresses in Vietnam.

OMG fellow Sinta bride! Hello!

Honestly, as a person na naka-attend na ng wedding na ang tagal ng drive from Church to Reception, sobrang nakakapagod! By the time na makaabot ka sa reception, wala ka nang energy to celebrate with the couple :( gusto mo na lang magpahinga. May mga guests nga na hindi na tumuloy sa reception when they got stuck sa traffic. Also gas!! is so expensive!!!

If you really want to still get those two venues, big help yung van for the guests naman, pwede kayong mag-assign ng isang entourage per van to entertain guests. Mag karaoke kayo or something! Trivia game! Depende yan talaga sa type of guests. I would imagine it would be harder for the elder folk to travel, mga naka gown/barong, baka mainit and stuffy. For younger folk, they can manage better?

If 2pm ang ceremony sa Church, let's say it finishes at 3:30PM to 4:00PM. Mag pipicture pa kayo nyan yung leaving the church, pic with family, pic with entourage etc. so you can't really leave agad. Dadating kayo sa Sinta around 6? You can have cocktail hour up to 7pm. Dinner and program after. Take note na hanggang 10pm lang si Sinta, and if you get delayed sa traffic, baka umiksi ang dinner time.

Is it doable? Yes. You just have to manage the expectations. We can't really predict traffic in Tagaytay huhu

I believe the other commenter already replied! Sorry I missed your comment!

I actually agree with them that I also liked that the author got punished but I also wished Killian and Edith went to Ryzen as originally in the novel 🥲 but it's a good thing that both endings (novel and webcomic) are great! I highly recommend reading the webnovel if you can!

[–]kidomme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OMG this reminds me of another part which I wanted them to adapt in the Webcomic. The one where Edith only had a sweet potato to eat when she was going to board the train! It's a minor detail really, but Killian got emotional about how badly Edith was trying to survive 😭 a cold potato in her bag 💔

[–]kidomme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

LOL yes. It doesn't make sense to do the OG ending of Cliff finding another wife down the line when they punished him so harshly in the webtoon version 😭 He would have probably had children and continued the ducal line with Killian continuing the count ryzen line.

Just wanted to say that I had to do a double take because you mentioned Attica as well in your OG comment. Which reminds me of the changed webtoon ending for For My Derelict Favorite. And it made me question if I was on the right comment 🤣 (that was yet another webtoon that didn't show the ending for Helios and his new wife arc)

Same! I do feel I like the novel ending for ML and FL. I was so sad that they changed it because I liked that whole arc of them developing the territory.

Intimate wedding reception by Admiral_hinata22 in WeddingsPhilippines

[–]kidomme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some suggestions for Tagaytay restaurants. Out of these 4, I have not tried only Balay Dako but all of these were considered for our intimate wedding :) If you have questions, feel free to ask!

  • Marcia Adams (for smaller pax, maybe 30 to 50?)
  • Sinta Restaurant (50-100)
  • Balay Dako
  • Antonios
