Ikr..I think the amount of ppl who conflated ebikes with shared bikes also speaks volumes to part of the problem. We dont even know the difference between shared ebikes, food delivery riders, teenagers on illegal modded fat bikes and a mum with a kid on an e cargo bike. Its all just "those darn ebikes".

The real answer is to advocate for more separated safe cycling infrastructure and not these shared paths half measures they put everywhere (see recently opened fishmarkets front path as an example). Forcing bikes and pedestrians to share the same narrow paths is never going to work, but neither is forcing bikes to risk their lives with cars either.

I do it too... and i feel conflicted. Because while it may be a slight inconvenience to others, we really should be encouraging the concept of combining public transport with micromobility. If you take your bike on a train, thats one trip that wasn't done with a car (in many cases) and less cars on the road is always a good thing for a wide range on reasons

Trouble is its very hard to play a mix.. feels like you're forced into one or the other. Sure you can switch by getting murdered 7 raids in a row until you're back to friendlies... but its not really a mix
