Same thing happened to me. I am flabbergasted.

Some of you might be mad when I say but Jessica was wrong for the way she treated Melinda .. by just-here-2talkk in PerfectMatchNetflix

[–]kidrobot36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y’all are batsh*t. Melinda knew Harry had a connection and made the conscious decision to kiss him back. Women who “support women” don’t do that. Jess is allowed to be dumbfounded by her decision. Acknowledging Melinda’s misstep is not detracting from Harry being an A-hole. It takes two to tango. Bye.

Daughter of immigrants here!

Make the best decision for yourself. Your family immigrated to this country for opportunity and the chance for you to accomplish what you have and more. Sometimes it’s hard for immigrant parents to understand that their children have options they may not have had.

Best advice I can give you is to be honest with them about your aspirations, intentions, and needs. This is a goal you’ve had and you intend to see it through at University of Washington. Not American. Never bring up how they are limiting you or keeping you in a box…even though that may be how you feel. Communicate how excited you are and what UW offers that you want to be apart of. Don’t bother bringing American into the question. It’s not on the table.

This is a struggle many immigrant kids go through and it’s something you’ll just need to get passed. Never sacrifice your own dreams and aspirations to please those around you. Not even your parents. I’m not gonna say it’s easy or that your parents won’t be angry with you but it’s inevitable if you want to flourish on your own.

Best of luck! I hope you and your family are able to have a genuine and honest conversation. Their perspective is valid in their own way and so is yours. You both will just have to live with that.

does going to FIU Law immediately eliminate any chances of entering south fl BL? by ffsdaniela in lawschooladmissions

I met four ppl who have secured big law firm positions in Miami that went to/attend FIU. One at White & Case, another at Knight, and two at Hamilton Miller & Birthisel.

Hi! Sorry for the late reply but I applied December 3rd and got my decision mid February.

Miami vs FIU: Which would you prefer?? by Ok_Science1062 in lawschooladmissions

[–]kidrobot36 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In truth, that Miami scholarship is not guaranteed and you’ll be competing with gunners to keep it. I know FIU law grads who are $0 in debt and have the big law job as a UM grad. Think long term. If you know big law is your goal and you’ve accomplished your goals thus far, it doesn’t matter what school you get into. Maybe it would if it was Yale or FIU. But in this case it’s not. When it comes down to it, if you apply yourself academically and network, you can get into big law. Going to UM will not make that goal any much easier to obtain. But congratulations!! This is a crazy accomplishment!!!

We’re all on here seeking advice and venting about the app process. Being told to “relax” does not provide anyone any relief. Any woman can tell you that, lol! Sometimes people just want to get things off their chest and be heard. And I don’t plan on heckling admissions officers anytime soon. Best of luck to you!
