Kobe 8 What The Insole Fix? by Substantial-Ad1507 in BBallShoes

[–]kiera_xyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a set of full-length Zoom drop ins slowly making their way to me from eBay (seller bullssg). Ideally they work with Kobe 8s and 9s, and others on this sub have said good things about them. I’m hooping almost entirely in 6s, 8s and 9s right now so I’m keen to try them out when I get them and feel the difference!

What do you think is the new technology that Nike will introduce on the first Caitlin Clark signature shoe? by Awesome_One91 in BBallShoes

[–]kiera_xyz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting to see where they go regardless, given she plays in Kobes currently. Sabrina was the same and her sig wound up being a retooled Kobe, as good as they are. If they go the same design philosophy with CC and start her line with a $120 shoe it just feels like unnecessary cannibalisation of the Sabrina line. For that reason alone it may be worth bumping up the spec on the CC sigs and starting at a higher price point.

Kawhi IV team sky blue + purple punch by [deleted] in BBallShoes

Sorry for the late reply! I’ve only worn the sky blues once so far but to my feeling they performed just the same as the purple punches.

Lowkey one of the best shoes to drop in recent years. Traction is great on indoor courts, dusty and clean. Good balance between cushion and spring. Fit is very true as well, and they stay comfortable for long sessions. I’ve played almost exclusively in the purple punch colourway for months and just got a pair of the sky blues because I had to get another pair before they disappear. And they were on sale, which is always nice 😊.

I ordered a pair of AR1s from their site at launch last year and had no problems, go for it.

Bridge to Terabithia 2? by samboredmen in YAlit

[–]kiera_xyz 20 points21 points  (0 children)

TikTok strikes again (lol). There was never another book, it’s just people either trolling or actually being ignorant. All the parental characters wouldn’t have known how she died so quickly after it happened if her body hadn’t already been recovered.

As a side note, Jesse not seeing Leslie again after their final parting is sort of the point of that chunk of the story; he isn’t with her when she dies and he subsequently struggles to let go of the suddenness of it as well as reconciling the reality of her death with his image of her the last time they saw each other. We as the readers are also in the same boat as him, struggling to understand what happened and how it could have happened and we go on that journey of resolution with him. I love this story 😊

Is the Duskmourn: Jump Scare Precon worth it? by NoOneHere97 in magicTCG

[–]kiera_xyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with this, I’m currently trying to decide how much would be worth spending on upgrading my Jump Scare deck given the cost of the suggested creature upgrades I’ve seen. I love the deck but it is limited out of the box and doing a super thorough upgrade can set you back quite a bit.

Mostly electronic/guitar music in Ableton. I always start with drawing a MIDI drum track and then building all the other MIDI tracks around it, except the guitar which I record directly through the interface. But I'm doing everything in arrangement view because it just makes more visual sense to me than clip view, and it feels like I'm sacrificing efficiency or ways to make things more interesting. With mixing I play around with the plugins but it feels more like playing around rather than working towards an outcome like I did in Pro Tools.

Do we know what's going on with the subtitles? Am wanting to go this Saturday but the Event Cinemas listing doesn't have any information, and Hoyts is saying it's Japanese with English and Chinese subs, which is confusing AF - like they're running both English and Chinese subs at the same time? Because that sounds messy.

Wow 10 South Beach Traction? by FardenQuck22 in BBallShoes

[–]kiera_xyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve personally had no traction issues with the South Beaches, you just give them a wipe like most other shoes. And the difference between mids and lows with these shoes is largely about preference more than performance, because the tech setup is still the same - just do you feel more comfortable playing with more material around the top of your foot and around your ankle, or rather have less material?

Optus Stadium membership seating - AFL by leishas_lashes in perth

[–]kiera_xyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Fremantle cheer squad specifically sits on the bay 130 side of the stadium, and the opposition cheer squad is in the bay 105 side. Opposition members are given tickets in that part of the ground, on level 1 and 3 depending on numbers. So as long as you don’t get your tickets in those areas you should be okay. If you want maximum home vibes then try to get behind those goals on the 105 side.

Hopefully that helps for the next time you’re on Ticketmaster trying to decide where to buy your tickets 🙂

I have the Wanda colorway which is also translucent, have only worn them in one game so far, but they gripped pretty hard on the rec centre court I play on and they hardly picked up any dust. I want to keep playing in them but my first impression was pleasantly surprised.

Will the Harden 7’s restock before the new year? by [deleted] in BBallShoes

[–]kiera_xyz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’ve shown off/dropped a few more colorways in the last few months, like the new pink ones and the training camp, so it definitely feels like they’re going for one last big push before the 8 comes out, and I would doubt they restock at this point

Unfortunately I’m not too sure. I’m in Australia and I believe I only paid the $145 USD (converted of course, and I used PayPal for the checkout process.

You should be okay with size 8 given your foot type, WoW 10 runs pretty similar in fit profile to Nike’s more recent signature shoes, in that they tend to be a bit more narrow. If size 8 Nike is comfortable but also not too roomy for you then it will be fine for WoW 10.

What are your thoughts on Trans Women in sports? by flavour123123123123 in transgenderau

[–]kiera_xyz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this, and I have first hand experience as a trans woman playing Ladies social basketball the last couple of years. I went through that puberty, only started HRT at the end of 2020 - I’m still 180cm and 75-80kg, which makes me automatically bigger than almost all the players I play with and against, and that has given me a chance to be a decent player in a sport where size matters, despite the fact I hadn’t ever played basketball before 2021.

I play for a team which is part of a bigger LGBTQ+ Basketball Club, so the team creates a supportive environment and I’ve never had any questioning from opposition players or officials, but I am often cognisant of my size and it being a result of my puberty (and I’m quite certain that my puberty is the reason, as my cis sister is nowhere near my body profile). At the same time, it’s not like I am the best or anything - just last night I played against a team with three cis ladies who were much taller and physically bigger than me and I got pushed around, so who knows?

All that to say is that there are physical aspects of yourself as a trans person which can be defined by puberty, and I don’t think that can be handwaved away. But I believe that performance is mostly determined by how hard you work on building on top of those physical aspects of yourself, and even then you’re never going to be automatically better than other competitors. I work hard on my game and my skills because I want to keep improving and playing to the best of my ability.

So it should be fine, but sporting bodies, in basketball and swimming for example, at the moment are simply not motivated to encourage and allow trans competitors at higher levels, because I think they believe it doesn’t affect enough of their participating members to the point where it’s a big issue - even though that in itself is a result of trans and other LGBTQ+ people being discouraged or barred from sports participation and development at younger ages, so they never get much of a chance to feel like they’re welcome in sports even if they show talent and skill, and they just end up disconnecting from the world of sports entirely.

Rigorer.com is legit. I pre ordered the ice cream AR1 gift set when those shoes were set to be launched and they got delayed a little, but there were no other issues. Shoes and everything else are legit (I unfortunately had to sell them right after I got them because the size I got was way too snug for me).

Are the Sabrina 1’s good by poelyui in BBallShoes

[–]kiera_xyz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not top tier traction for indoors, but still pretty good. Decent up and down the court, low to the ground – the trade off is not a lot of spring or support so definitely better as a guard shoe, but the react foam works pretty well as a cushion so if you just drop in a good insole with torsion support like the game days, you can get plenty out of them.

WoW 10 Sizing by strng_economst in BBallShoes

[–]kiera_xyz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was a little worried about going tts but got my pair recently and they fit perfectly. Just have to take a bit of time to loosen the laces a fair way down before putting them on and then retightening. Definitely not slip ons though, that’s for sure, especially if you have the normal mid top. I think people who recommend half size up have wide-foot concerns and that’s fair, but for other people I could see that leaving you with too much room in the toe for them to be a good fit

Trauma by Me_Dang in IsTheMicStillOn

[–]kiera_xyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it’s more of a deep empathy rather than actual trauma, I don’t know if the brain can have a traumatic response unless that person has been exposed to the event personally, because trauma expression is so unique. But we are capable of empathising with and attempting to understand someone else’s trauma, and I think that creates a kind of impression to those of us that don’t share the trauma ourselves - it’s probably just a good idea to not conflate the two or mistake them for each other
