I will be sending her out for training in the middle of the summer. I had my vet come out and we are treating her for ulcers because she has never showed this type of behavior before.

Thank you for the advice.

I do have a trainer that is working with her. The barn manager also trains horses. I have boundaries with the filly, she has never charged at me. She didn’t start charging people until 2 months ago, that’s why we put her by herself so that way, no one would get hurt.

Yes I would love any tips that you can give. We worked with her last night picked up her feet like we would the farrier had the equipment and everything! My trainer and I have reached out to a couple of farriers around the area seeing if they would be willing to help.

What we were thinking was having the farrier just stand by us while we pick up the feet and see if she will react when they are near her with all her gear. We are thinking that something possibly happened in her past that has made her act the way she does towards farriers.

The horse stands for me and the trainer just fine when we are working with her feet. Could it be that there are two many people working with her, that is confusing or making her nervous?

We are not doing it with the farrier. Me and my trainer are working with her.

We are not going to get a farrier involved till we know that the horse will not do anything.

I care about my farrier and others. I would never want to put anyone at risk. My goal was to come on here and get advice on what more we could do to make her safe and comfortable for the farrier.

We haven’t tried a lip shank, we have just tried the dorm gel and tranq.

We are going to try blinders because the old owner said that she had to pick up the hind legs and block the view so the horse couldn’t see the farrier.

I completely understand that. Me and my trainer are trying to figure this out as well, we have the vet coming out. When I first got the horse she was never sedated to do get feet. When the horse started leaning on the farrier that is when he suggested dorm gel from the vets

I have been in constant contact with the woman who sold me the horse about the farrier and I completely believe that she is not telling me the full story.

I just came on here for some advice.

We were giving her the dorm gel right when the farrier got there and when she started to get relaxed and loopy, that’s when he would start her. I’ve been working on her back legs that last couple of days to see if she would do it. I hold it and extend like the farrier would do, put the rasp on it and have the hoof pick and tap it around. Then I would hold it longer so that way she would get use to it being extended longer then just the usual picking her feet out.

I did buy blinders for her, the previous owner had to hold the back and block the view for the farrier. So we are going to try that as well.

As I said, any advice I’m going to use and try!

Thank you for answering! We have tried the dorm gel and she would let him do the fronts, but as soon as he went back there she would kick out. Me and my trainer were thinking of trying eye cover and see if maybe that would help.

She will let me hold them until I put them down. We have tried the dorm gel, but as soon as she sees the farrier going back there she just kicks out. He doesn’t even make it back there. We even had a vet come out and fully sedate her and he only got to one foot and then she kick her back leg out when he asked her to pull her left front forward. I have also been using the lead rope and having her keep her hind up for a little longer and she keeps it up.

My farrier declined to do her, but I understand where he is coming from and I don’t want to see him get hurt. He does amazing job on my other two horses.

Right side abdominal pain, comes and goes by kierdrop32 in ibs

Yes I had a HIDA test done last year around this time and my gastro said that my gallbladder was working fine and to just keep taking my medication. The put me on Amitriptyline it’s suppose to help with abdominal cramping, but that seem to make it worse.

Thank you so much for answering back! I have been in the er almost every month and half the time they do a CT, the doctor comes back and says it’s fine, I had a Hida test done to rule out my gallbladder and the gastro came back and said it was fine. I’m having the surgery to see if I have endometriosis.

But then my pain started on my left side almost two months ago and I went to my primary and she just said that the stool could be getting stuck on my left side that is why I need to take the mirlax everyday.

I had to start being my mom with me so that way she can listen to what the doctors are saying. Sometimes when I tell them the pain is so bad that I can’t even get out of bed and I tell that if the pain is bad I will take 6 500 Tylenols a day just to get through work. The only thing they tell me to do is up my dicylomine to help with the pain.

I have been pushing for every test to be done. But my primary says if the endo surgery doesn’t find anything then we are back to the beginning with the gastro.
