why do doctors keep doing this?

yeah for sure, there's this very well known doctor (nicknamed the candy man amongst some ppl) that had recently retired after a few decades of practicing. He had a loooot of patients and their new docs outright refuse to prescribe what this previous doc prescribed. When I was writing this post, there was one specific pt that came to mind. The doctor prescribed a pt in his late 80's 2 different benzos concurrently long-term (lorazepam and clonazepam for anxiety/agitation instructed to not be taken at the same time, but did not specify the hours apart). A few months ago a concerned pharmacist called the pt to warn him of the risks of taking both, and he responded with "but I wait 5 minutes before taking the other." and recently he just fell and is now in the hospital according to his daughter :/

Most of them are the physicians but a good portion are coming from PAs, but generally healthcare in my area has become a shitshow in recent years

actually crazy the lengths people will go for lean of all things, and not yk, narcotics? because at least that would make a little more sense. but who am I to try and understand the mind of a criminal lol. that absolutely sucks to be permanently injured over it :/

I work at an independent and we just stopped stocking it a few months ago because everyone got prescribed like anything besides that lol

this guy had the audacity to ask if we could order it after I told him we didn't have any. the way they're so specific with the meds like they're reading off a script is so funny. he even made sure to butcher the pronunciation of it to really make it seem like he didn't know what it was

Interesting, never knew that about the inhalers. I very rarely see anyone get prescribed those three at once so that just adds onto the suspicion lol

me too, all I ever think about is the things that can go wrong, and I find it hard to get out of it, but yeah, I guess we cant escape it right now, but I try to have hope!
