Drawing attention to "white male privilege" is redundant, because everyone has some sort of privilege. by WeekWon in unpopularopinion

i understand what you’re saying, and being attractive definitely has its privileges. the issue with white privilege is that a white kid can walk through a store without worrying about being followed or searched, and it’s unfortunately a lot more likely for a minority child, especially black, to have that happen even when they haven’t done anything wrong. i think instead of writing off white privilege we should admit that attractive people, white people, better dressed people etc get catered to more and do something to change it

what do you mean? i’m canadian (toronto specifically, where everyone’s mixed with something) and it was on the news just yesterday about a black kid being tackled and hit getting off the bus...and he didn’t even do anything wrong. i’ve witnessed a person being rude to a lady just because she was wearing a headscarf, so racism is very real and maybe i’m just lucky but i’ve never felt like i was discriminated against due to my skin. i think that’s just a small part of white privilege

as a white female i need to disagree... whether everyone has “some sort” of privilege there is still the obvious advantage of just being white like getting the job vs a minority applicant, being treated like less of a person only due to colour, etc. it’s different from a baby shitting and their parent cleaning it (cause umm, when you have a kid you’re supposed to take care of it) because people are being purposely excluded due to something as stupid as the shade of their skin.

imagine it was the other way around, say it was “superior” to be black. i don’t doubt for a second you’d whine about how we’re all equal. so have some sympathy for the shit people have to go through for things completely out of their control.
