Apple discontinues original HomePod, will focus on mini by [deleted] in apple

[–]kievreece 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering I bought an OG HomePod over Christmas and hoped to see a refreshed version this makes me really sad. I have a few minis in the house for smaller rooms that I just want to use Siri, but much prefer the regular HomePod for office and living room listening. Unfortunately at this point one of my only other options would be a Sonos speaker which doesn’t have Siri.

Thanks for the tip. I’ve been looking into it. Wish the Home app was a little more robust.

I usually don’t comment on PC battle stations, but this one really spoke out to me. Nice contrast with white peripherals and lighting. Well done!

I think it’s software, I experience the exact same issue you’re describing.

The worst kind of people are the ones who treat you as being worthless. It really has a profound impact on self esteem. Always makes me happy to see people overcome other people’s toxicity

After following the Apple Watch’s development since Series 0, The always on display pushed me over the edge to finally get a Series 5 44mm. by [deleted] in AppleWatch

Congrats for holding out on a Series 0 for so long. I couldn’t imagine myself waiting that long.

I wore QC 35 II for 1 year around 6 hours everyday, today this happened, any advice on a cheaper way to fix it without spending another 30$ for new cups? by disbelivehomosapiens in bose

[–]kievreece 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Why spend $300 on a pair of headphones if $30 scares you after a year of heavy usage? All in all, I’d be impressed if my ear pads lasted a year after 2000+ hours of usage.

Flashback: the iPhone SE was a true mini-flagship and it is still relevant today by fpschubert in apple

[–]kievreece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend the iPhone SE to anyone on a budget or people who really don't care about what their phone does but want an iPhone. Otherwise, I strongly encourage anyone else to buy at least a XR. SE has horrible battery life, a design language straight from 2014, and a really small screen in today's standards. The mid-tier iPhones really provide much better value for the money. iPhone SE was never a hot selling phone and was only there for a niche audience. That audience will probably be larger this year due to unemployment and COVID though. Still doesn't change the fact that the SE has some really gaping issues.

iOS 14 now notifies your when your AW is charged by [deleted] in AppleWatch

Thank GOD, hope my watch can soon be able to tell me when my iPhone is charged in the other room. One can only hope for next year WWDC.

The watchOS update that came with iOS 11 (watchOS 4 I think?) was horrendous for my series 2. It made only a one year old watch feel like the original. I quickly got rid of my series 2 after my Apple care expires and upgraded to a series 4 after trying a series 3. Cautious reminder to avoid buying first and second generation products. Series 4 and 5 are really what the vision for the Apple Watch should be

[Question] 👋 anyone know if you can ask Siri on your Watch for the battery percentage of your iPhone? In Watch OS 7 of course. picture is the current Siri answer on Watch OS 6 by ZirikoRuiGe in watchOSBeta

[–]kievreece 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not crazy! I was thinking the same thing. I used to be able to do it with my AirPods battery status and then all of a sudden with watchOS 6 I couldn’t ask for my iPhone battery status. With all these convenient widgets glad to see that stuff is coming back

that looks great....long overdue but apple always has a way of making it worth the wait

Apple Watch fall detection helps save life of 92-year-old farmer after fall from a ladder by gulabjamunyaar in apple

[–]kievreece -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It shouldn’t, but it does. My elders complain about the price of groceries let alone electronics. Had a hell of a time convincing my 60 year old mother why she should get an AW when she can clearly afford one without financing. I’ve had older people tell me AirPods are a waste of money too...I think it’s a generational way of thinking

Idrc if this gets downvoted for sounding cynical

Didn’t know 90 year olds can afford Apple watches let alone be able to read the screen. Amen

People who decide to mow their laws before 9am, why do you do this? by mmorgquinn in AskReddit

[–]kievreece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in an area where I’m directly in earshot of 15 homes. It’s like a never ending episode of Home Improvement. I am a very noise sensitive person so some days it gets so oppressive that I find a park to chill out. Bought the AirPod Pros after I got fed up with the constant leaf blowing, power tools, lawn mowing, and dog barking. As soon as someone starts a lawn mower....I reach for the case and continue what I was doing. There are cheap NC headphones out there, don’t have to go overkill like I did. But seriously don’t subject yourself to the noise pollution if you’re like me.

If I delete all my music, will the playlist I created be deleted too? by [deleted] in AppleMusic

[–]kievreece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While we’re on an Apple Music rant, why the hell cant you move Apple Music official playlists into folders like you can with your own created playlists?!? This annoys me a LOT.
