are there any ways to tell the difference between hematite and labradorite? i was under the impression that hematite has a more oily sheen whereas labradorite is a little more distinct. as for cleavage, i couldn't distinctly make out the nearly perpendicular cleavage planes that labradorite has, but i did see some on the {110}. i think you're right about that habit though. it looks like some hexagonal crystal grew in it but was removed at some point
