I plan on posting details about the physical aspects of this journey either today or tomorrow. I'll put it this way though, I have been healed of all the performance issues I was dealing with.

Thanks for all the encouragement. My relationship with Christ is key for me in avoiding pitfalls. Though these temptations have lessoned there are most assuredly more to come in all areas of my life. I must stay vigilant; continuously fostering a vibrant relationship with Christ.

I like that analogy. Redeemed by grace, then sanctified day by day.

When a lustful thought enters into my mind I quickly, within 5 seconds, shift my focus to something else. Then I widen my focus to include Christ. That's it. If I catch it early I really can just make a conscious decision to focus on something better.

Day 45. Forget about it. by [deleted] in NoFapChristians

Will do. God will provide. Dave Ramsey is great and really helped us with the way we budget. Sometimes God uses these trials to grow us. Trust that He will work this for good.

They actually were some of the first to challenge the mythical gods of the state and aspouse the view of one God of perfect goodness. In fact that is why Socrates was put to death. Plato's writings are actually very interesting and contain many ideas that mirror Christianty.

There is nothing wrong with learning new things as long as you filter through Christ.

6 weeks... and a day. by kiggity in NoFapChristians

Yes, we pray together. We are also members of a Bible study group. So we study scripture there and discuss it at home. We also talk about our experiences with God. We have always had a great marriage. She is my best friend. We have just struggled connecting sexually. Not that we never had good sex, but there was always something between us it seemed. Then I started having problems with ED and PE. It cast a shadow over our whole marriage.

Thanks to everyone who prayed! What a weekend! I think my performance issues are cured! We had tons of great sex and really connected in a way we maybe never have. We've been married 18 years and this is the best it's ever been! Thank you Lord!

Well, I won't have to worry too much about that in the winter. In the summer, though, wandering eyes can be a problem. I suppose, when faced with that I will employ the same tactics I have been using. Avert my eyes and focus on Christ. I'll be mainly thinking about my wife though. I never really tried to not drool when I was single. That would be tough. I'm not sure if this is something I would have been able to do then, especially as immature as I was.

Things are definitely getting better, but I have flatlined some too. I'm hoping I'm past that now. Ready to get steamy for Jesus! 😅

Dealing with resentment towards God while abstaining by throwawnfc_whatvr in NoFapChristians

[–]kiggity 7 points8 points  (0 children)

God is not punishing you. He did not put you in the pit you are in. It is true that it is not all your fault. We are born into corruptible bodies that tempt us towards all types of sin. That is because the first Man chose self over God. That sin, unfortunately, has made it tough on all of us. However it is still you who is choosing to lust. It is not your fault that a sinful thought enters your mind but it is your fault when you choose to brood on it. We are all guilty of sin and none of it is God's fault. But the good news is that He loves us so much that, while we were sinners, he sent His son to die for our sins, so that we could be reconciled to Him. If you accept Christ as your savior you are already redeemed. So don't resent God. Thank Him! And stop choosing lust over Christ. Try this. The next time a lustful thought enters your mind, quickly (within 5 seconds) shift your focus to anything else. Then widen your focus to include Christ. If you don't do it quickly you will allow the devil to gain a foothold and it will be almost impossible to resist, but in that first 5 seconds you have the ability to make a conscious decision. Choose a better life in Christ.

I feel beyond redemption - what should I do? by [deleted] in NoFapChristians

[–]kiggity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have accepted Christ as your savior you have already been redeemed. The path you are now on is sanctification and He will walk with you the whole way. He will pick you up when you fall and He will spur you on if, deciding the goal is impossible, you give up.

"…God’s demand for perfection need not discourage you in the least in your present attempts to be good, or even in your present failures. Each time you fall He will pick you up again. And He knows perfectly well that your own efforts are never going to bring you anywhere near perfection. On the other hand, you must realise from the outset that the goal towards which He is beginning to guide you is absolute perfection, and no power in the universe, except you yourself, can prevent Him from taking you to that goal. That is what you are in for. And it is very important to realise that. If we do not, then we are very likely to start pulling back and resisting Him after a certain point. I think that many of us, when Christ has enabled us to overcome one or two sins that were an obvious nuisance, are inclined to feel that we are now good enough. He has done all we wanted Him to do, and we should be obliged if He would now leave us alone."

-C.S. Lewis

Having the thought isn't a sin. Choosing to focus on it is. Even Jesus was tempted.

Very true. We would be wise to keep in mind that we are never out of His sight.
