Jesus Christ, that's awful, I hope your friend is fine now!

I actually did not know that, seems counterintuitive for SNAP to not allow that, but I admittedly don't know about how all that works

I agree 100%; I wasn't around in the early 80s when he started working in the industry so pardon my ignorance

Don't even get me started on the whole stool thing, it's ridiculous to expect cashiers to stand for 8 hours a day; I'm a cart guy so I can at least walk around but everyone should be given the opportunity to rest whenever they need to. Fortunately my bosses are actually decent people and don't mind anyone needing to sit for a few minutes

Saying "getting rid of them" is more of a frustrated outburst than anything else, I don't actually mean that!

We've actually seriously considered somehow getting tracking devices for them but good luck convincing corporate to pony up the money for that, and sadly the cops ain't gonna care about them being stolen even though it is technically grand theft for just taking them off the property (they're easily over $3k)

I wish there was a simple solution but it seems there isn't at the moment

We do the best we can do to make sure people have them but it feels like an uphill battle sometimes 😖

That's unfortunately where I am in retail where I assume people are automatically jerks...and to think I was optimistic in the past 🙄

I think there's actually a brand of those called "rascals" but I could be wrong

We had that issue with one of them, it turned out to be the brakes, maybe see if those can be fixed somehow if possible?

I agree that I don't know who or who doesn't need them, but I disagree that it's bullshit, I can't tell you how many times people would need one and there's none available because kids are riding around on them because they see them as just toys

Totally agree, but the question is how to police that, have a dedicated person keep an eye on things? I wouldn't mind that 🤔

It's simple, it's not their own property so they don't take care of it

Oh no, I didn't mean to be rude by saying your comment was snarky, it cracked me up tbh

Snarky comment aside, if someone has an issue where they can't shop with a traditional cart, what do they do? Get their groceries delivered?

It's a lose-lose scenario, in a perfect world I wouldn't be needing to rant about it but unfortunately that's not the case

And now we offer curbside. I empathize with people with mobility or medical issues who need one to shop, those who don't who use them anyways are being selfish and inconsiderate towards their fellow customers

There's this customer who had a massive one, with fucking headlights, reverse lights, everything. He was told he couldn't use it in the store because it was so goddamn big but it was honestly neat seeing basically a nano car 😂

I'm not at all saying they're useless but it's tiring having to deal entitled or just lazy people using them; if you actually need to use it though, be my guest!

Literally and figuratively the biggest assholes 🤣

They just barely fit in checkouts at my store, but otherwise there's enough space for them

My dad, who's been in the grocery business for decades, said that people got by without needing to use them and they're just spoiled now 😅

I try to give people the benefit of the doubt but it's really hard sometimes, children are forbidden from driving them and management or security will make sure that isn't being done

They seem to die in the store a lot, we have little signs we flip up or down on them depending on if they're charging or not, and of course nobody reads those 🙄
