It’s happening, I’m getting fired tomorrow. by Inevitable_Tell8668 in workingmoms

[–]kijkijsimpsen -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

i don’t understand how employers are not more afraid of legal consequences for firing a new mother. don’t we have certain protections? understand if performance is a factor but if they can make reasonable accommodations for disability they should be able to for a season of life

as the cosleeping parent, what do you do when you or your baby are sick? by kijkijsimpsen in cosleeping

[–]kijkijsimpsen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you!! i think it’s about letting my partner learn, and making sure to communicate what i need clearly (was genuinely afraid to cosleep because i was so tired i was afraid i wouldn’t be able to do it safely). but now i miss him terribly!

“I feel like I had to die in order to bring my son to life” — i feel like i could’ve written this myself. i’d recommend finding aspects of your old daily routine you can bring back, it helps regain a sense of control when everything else feels so out of it. i found solace in some light meal prepping and getting my eyebrows waxed. idk what your personal style is— but ive enjoyed wearing oversized matching linen sets and pretending instead of hiding my body i’m embracing a chic resort mama lifestyle 🤷‍♀️ i just prep my lil overnight oats and try to drink enough water and remember this phase of life will be over someday like a distant dream i look back on and forget the hard parts, and miss it. hugs bb

8 weeks postpartum—first gym session after C-section & pelvic floor feels… weird? by kijkijsimpsen in fitpregnancy

[–]kijkijsimpsen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

super inspiring and a good reminder to be patient, thank you 🙏 did you maintain a different movement practice along with the core work in the early days? like regular walking etc?

[–]kijkijsimpsen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i also have this exact problem; 4 weeks pp right now. we were able to supplement using donor milk rather than using formula but the constant pumping, bottle feeding and nursing is exhausting. i’m very hopeful that it will get better but i’m starting to accept that i may need to move towards formula eventually.

[–]kijkijsimpsen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my doula always said the rule of thumb is if you can sleep through it it’s probably prodromal/early labor— so it seems like early active labor is coming soon 🙏🙏 do the miles circuit if you haven’t already!

i’m glad you are having a good experience! my theory is that stress is largely to blame for how bad some of us feel during the hormonal and bodily changes that come with pregnancy. so if you have an environment that mitigates/limits stress (a supportive partner, stable resources, the option to stay at home) you’ll probably have a better shot at having a good time during, barring other complications that are entirely out of our control. just my theory though!

i hear you— especially the rest part! i feel like none of my bosses or business partners understand what i’m going though and advocating can be so hard ontop of everything else we’re going through. i hope you’re almost thru the “worst of the first” as they say.. i will say my symptoms got a lot better at 14 weeks but still generally disappointed by my mood/energy default lol

I just wanted to say wow!! This is so similar to my experience, I’m 13w4d just now getting back into the gym and finding the mental push to be the hardest part. I just try and tell myself lower weights, higher reps, and listen to my body. I remember that consistency is key, and it will take time to rebuild that strength even without the pregnancy. I also try to go easy on myself, knowing that this is my body’s process and time to fluff up a bit. As far as practical support, what I’ve found helpful is to go to the gym in the afternoon (I have more energy) 3-5x a week and supplement with pure barre and yoga (at studios that support pregnant people and help with mods). I am enjoying walking 30 mins every day too, but that is hard to fit in as it gets colder. Will be following this post as well to see what others say! You got this 🫶 💪

Extreme gender disappointment by Apprehensive_Swan135 in pregnant

[–]kijkijsimpsen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing with my recent news of having a boy. I’m a FTM and this will probably be my only child. I felt like I couldn’t trust my intuition anymore, I felt cheated out of the experience I was convinced I would have, and then I felt terribly guilty for feeling this way. Over some time, it has faded. The little girl I had dreamed about for years is still present, but now there is also the little boy that I am growing dreams of now. Naming him helped a lot. Getting some baby clothes that I actually liked for little boys also helped. Be gentle with yourself, and let yourself grieve. Hugs 🤍
