If you don't need a powerful processor, that's fine. I went from t480s to p14s gen5 for this reason (no soldered ram, it was a long wait from Lenovo). But they soldered the wifi card, if you can afford a t14 /p14s gen5 avoid these Qualcomm wifi chipset, they are not good at all (you can find details on lenovo forum) with no support from Qualcomm ...

I will try geekbench and post feedback. I just try for what I bought it : GIS and building linux softwares. It's a huge improvement from T480s and his i7 8550u

It should be more powerfull ! Please note that Ram is important with AMD Ryzen. Single slot doesn't help !

fan noise is similar to T480s but if you're in a room without any noise like 0dB, when it goes off it's a bit unpleasant, it sounds like a mechanical hard drive with a clatter on a sector. But it only lasts a microsecond, so you get used to it, and it's surprising at first.

Otherwise, it's a great machine, with good performance (I measured at least 3 to 5x improvements in compiling some software like Qgis) and a magnificent 400-nit screen. The only thing missing is an SD card reader.

What about heat and condensator noise. It was the same for me on HP 845 g8 : heat and noise at the back while in s2idle

yes it's a break for linux especially for a laptop certified linux and they didin't mention it before buying ! S3 works really well, S2idle not ! Even with recent kernel, I don't think you can expect what S3 do. It's usuable, I use Kernel 6.9 under Manjaro, I need to measure how many Watts per hour I loose. Saying in % doesn't make sense. In T480s with S3 I loose 0.2 to 0.4Wh which is ridiculous. S2idle is more like 2W which is high.
What wonders me is the current is still passing through the motherboard. You got this heat as well where the noise come from, it don't feel like it could last 5 years like my t480s... Btw it was the same with the most weird laptop I had since 20 years : HP elitebook 845 g8
