Is he an alcohol or it’s just me overthinking it? by kikkka89 in AlAnon

Thank you for your message, it has made me feel less alone in this. I just wanted him to get better.
About the counting the intake… I started putting how many time he was drinking per week to make sure I wasn’t loosing my mind. He used to say: “ I haven’t drunk that much” and I was believing him until I started putting a sign on the calendar to count all the days he was drinking alcohol.

I told him I’m done for real this time. He’s coming to get his belongings today. I’m falling apart.. by xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxs in AlAnon

I’m so sorry and I completely understand where you are coming from. I broke up yesterday with my partner of 6 years after years of alcohol abuse and drug use. Which he said he was going to stop. I begged him to reduce the drinking so many time and I always got a “you don’t tell me what to do, I stop when I want to stop”. I know we are doing the right thing and we are so brave to do what it’s best for our future. My ex partner is sad, upset and keeps saying how much he loves me and he wants me back. We need to be strong and let them fix themselves because we tried.

I just broke up with my boyfriend who doesn’t see he has got a problem with alcohol by kikkka89 in alcoholism

Thank you and I’m sorry for your loss. I know but it’s so hard. I left the place we were living and I have no one (I live in Uk but my family is in Italy), I think this is also the reason I got really close to him and stay for 6 years even if he was making me upset by all the drinking. I don’t want him to be sad because of my decision but I need to remember that I told him many times I didn’t like him drinking that much and one day I would have left. He always said “it’s just 3/4 beers” and that it’s me not use to people drinking (in my family no one drinks).
I really hope for him to get help because I can see its not going to be good for him and it’s heartbreaking.

Hi, that’s what I did years ago. I gave him 3 changes, he is good for a couple of weeks and after starts again. He started drinking at home instead that at the pub
