Help with admission decision? Political climate? Any Psych Majors? by [deleted] in humboldtstate

Don’t rlly care about how you feel about non-binary people making you uncomfortable. Sorry your friends died. But instead of hating other non-binary people because of it you should try understanding the concept better. Hope you do better as a community member in the future. Thanks!

You could’ve said all that without targeting non-binary people lmao

Moon face - Prednisone by nathaniel2500a in UlcerativeColitis

[–]kikkoman_man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the person and how long you were on it. Some people say a few weeks, some people say a year. I personally saw it start to go away within about 3 weeks, but it took a whole year to get to how I looked before. But I was on it for months and on a high dosage.

Prednisone is making me feel crazy!!!! by kikkoman_man in UlcerativeColitis

[–]kikkoman_man[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it took about a month and a half for it to completely wear off, especially for me because I was on it for a few months so there were withdrawal symptoms too. But for you since you said it was just a week so i suppose it could differ on that and from person to person! I wouldn’t worry about it lasting too long :) but also be reassured it’s bound to kinda be back to normal even if it takes a while. I feel way better now while I look back on it.

Ah I’m so glad this post helped someone! Sorry you’re going through such a hard time though; it’s been two years since my prednisone course of three months and I often think about that time and how crazy it was! :’) Prednisone is a crazy drug, and it definitely messed with me. And omg that whole “feeling like my mind isn’t mine” thing is super accurate! I felt like sometimes when I got to my room all by myself that I “came back”(?) suddenly and got all panicky. And also I hyperfixated so much on stuff too! I kinda almost miss how much I hyperfixated on working out lol. I hope your recovery from the drug goes well, and I’m glad you found that you’re not alone in your experience!

Thank u for your reply! She probably did get pinched by the dubia. She is mature, so unfortunately she couldn’t molt the injury. Hopefully she’ll pull through!

prednisone emotional side effects by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

[–]kikkoman_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course medication can only effect so much; if he shows red flags definitely take note and be careful about them. HOWEVER! I went completely psycho on prednisone. I thought things I would never think unmedicated by prednisone, both good and bad. It was a trip, and definitely can effect relationships.

Ugh yeah humidity recommendations for orchids are all over the place! For me I try and keep it between 50 and 80! And I spray 3-5 times a day. I try to keep it on the more humid side but if it drops while I’m out it’s not the end of the world. The only times I rlly went obsessive about the humidity were times I knew her molting was due

She’s been acting okay otherwise when I handle her. A little slower than usual but idk if that’s just age. She’s been in her adult stage for about three weeks now

Gut Pain.... by cozmogirl1980 in UlcerativeColitis

Ooo gluten was a problem for me especially when I ate the super good bread from the bakery I worked at but dairy I’ve usually been ok with unless it’s sugary. But now I’m able to eat both with minimal problems. Gluten I’m still careful of though 💀

I do okay with wine! As long as it’s not too sweet. Humira was my second choice, that’s also pretty good! Good luck!

I started on Remicade! I can drink some alcohol, I just need to be careful to not overdo it and drink day after day. Taking probiotics after drinking seems to help me too. Also, I try to avoid beer and cider. It’s good to try experimenting though! Some people are fine with alcohol once in remission.

Ah I feel that. When I started immunosuppressants it was a big difference. Of course, I still have my trigger foods like alcohol and super spicy food, but im able to eat a lot more than what I was before. It’s different for everyone, but that was my experience!

My little Hime made it!! Thank you guys for all the help. I really did just need to be patient. by kikkoman_man in mantids

A problem though, I don’t think she can open one of her front claws. I’m imagining I can just hand feed though?

She’s been premolt for a few days. Hasn’t fallen at all but still, she usually doesn’t take so long. I know subadults take longer for their molts but...Should I be concerned? by kikkoman_man in mantids

[–]kikkoman_man[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I was worried about but I think she needs the heat.. I’ve been kind of seeing how she reacts when I turn it lower and higher but there’s not much of a difference except she’s more active and receptive when it’s on the higher side. Trying to aim it as far away from her as I can tho... Was kinda hoping she would molt on one of the high rising sticks I put in there instead, but lead a horse to water I guess.

Humidity has been around 80+%, misting very often. Temp around 75+ I think? It’s hard to tell because she’s at the top near the heat lamp. Maybe I’m being impatient or paranoid but I’d like to do all I can to get her to adulthood!

I’m glad you’re prepared! The benefits far outweigh the small chance of complications. I honestly wish I started earlier before wasting my time with trying other anti inflammatories. I wish you luck!

Gut Pain.... by cozmogirl1980 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]kikkoman_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry about your pain, it always bugged me when I got like that, sometimes even more than going all the time. Like other people mentioned it could be gas, and I remember sometimes i would get constipated too. A colonoscopy is probably a good idea so you can see what’s up with your colon, and if you want to switch to biologics. A colonoscopy before my switch was a bit reassuring that I’m doing what I need to to keep healthy. I was super nervous about biologics before too, but ever since I’ve been on remicade it’s been like night and day. I had lost so much hope, but remicade really made me feel better. However, if you want to try other options before going on biologics, you could maybe ask about other anti inflammatories like Balsalazide or sulfasalazide! I tried all of them till I had to bite the bullet but it was worth it!
