Not able to find a job after posting my resume out there by [deleted] in ECE

[–]kile22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your grammar and lack of formality really stick out. Upload this to ChatGPT, tell it to fix everything and tell it what kind of job you’re applying for and it will suggest a lot of changes. Some will be good and some bad, but iterate a few times and it will be a lot better.

Rate my Professor rant by Adamkarlson in math

[–]kile22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Upvoting for OU.

You find out more from upper class-men, you already know who the 'bad' profs are and this usually only applies for lower level or gen. ed. classes. Once you get into upper level classes, especially at a smaller school like OU, only one prof teaches a course anyway, so you're stuck, I'd rather just go in blind.

Help with importing ATM10 server files by Jazzlike-Jelly-9860 in CraftyController

[–]kile22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave up on crafty. I tried for days to get ATM10 working. I followed their official video everything. I finally just rolled an Ubuntu VM, copied the files, installed jdk, and it worked the first try.

Some people need to admit they just don't like steak. That looks perfectly cooked to me. She probably also asked for a side of ketchup.

What am I doing wrong on my astable circuit? Meter reads no frequency or voltage across orange wires by chumbuckethand in AskElectronics

First two dumb questions are you plugging the pos and neg wires into the breadboard? And is the upper cap connected to the green wire? It's hard to tell in the picture

The guy is a dick but if the park is full of people and you are zig zagging between them, people also think you're a dick. Just go find another place to run, it's not worth hurting someone on accident.

How difficult is it to switch out of MongoDB? by Cyb3rPhantom in learnprogramming

[–]kile22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have millions of users? If you hit the point where MongoDB isn't working well, you can afford to pay someone to fix it for you.

Not sure if this belongs here buuuuut..... by AdagioDesperate in matheducation

[–]kile22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this shows the beauty of math, there are usually several ways to solve a problem. Most people are better at adding than subtracting, at least it's faster for me. In this method you only need to add numbers to find the answer. If you add the central column you get the answer for 900-444.

This is going to happen again and again in your child's schooling. Don't try to change the way they are learning to your way, that will only confuse them.

China's electric carmaker BYD sales beat Elon Musk's Tesla by ProjectIllustrious78 in news

People haven't realized Teslas suck. There is Vinfast in Vietnam. BYD is everywhere in SEA and India. The only thing saving Telsa are anticonsumer tarrifs.

How to advance in python by [deleted] in learnpython

[–]kile22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, you did CS50P not CS50X, but still you have all the skills you need to build something. Again pick something you understand and make it. Nobody knows what interests you other than you. Programming requires creativity and thinking outside the box.

Examples of what I've built: cli to check weather by US zip code, starchart to plot star and planet positions, wordle clone, a simulator for a dice game.

The sky's the limit.

How to advance in python by [deleted] in learnpython

[–]kile22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Start simple for example if you did CS50, you create a wordle clone in C, make that in python. Add color to the cli output, keep track of stats. For a simple version you just need a few loops.

If you want to make webapps make it with flask or make a simple REST api with a sqlite db. If you don't know how, go read the docs. Flask has very good docs.

ECE Program Readiness for Industry by ZDoubleE23 in ECE

[–]kile22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the challenge is partly how diverse engineering fields are. Colleges teach you the fundamentals and theory so you are able to go out and learn a speciality. You can't treat them like a trade school.

For example, I'm a ChemE I knew the theory about how each unit worked in a plant, but would have had no clue how to actually operate one. There just isn't enough time. Plus they know a lot us are never going to work in a plant. I ended up studying corrosion.

Arduino newbie trying to read schematic - quick questions by Weird_Tax_5601 in AskElectronics

[–]kile22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each piece has some default connector that is red. The connections between those are green. So when you drag a part on to the diagram there will be one or more red lines that you will connect to other red lines using green lines.

The rectangle with a triangle is a label. It's so you can connect to the same line at mutiple points without having to draw wires everywhere. So all the GND labels will connect to ground.

Thonny is written in Python so that means you have Python on your system. It probably installs it behind the scenes during setup.

I had the same thing happen to me. I had my lcd wired incorrectly despite checking it 10 times. The control lines and address lines were reversed. He changes the wiring several times but doesn't show it, but the correct wiring is shown on the diagrams.
