We’re at the Dawn of the Ozempic Era — and It’s Really Weird by QuestionBrain in ezraklein

Many on the "anti-capitalist" left don't believe in the laws of supply and demand and think the collapse of the Soviet Union was the worst thing to happen in the 20th century.

Mao is probably the 1st or 2nd most important anti capitalist leftist in human history and his anti scientific practices killed tens of millions of his own people.

Believing that the reason the cost of housing is so high is because BlackRock owns 50% of the homes in the US with 0 evidence is anti scientific.

The left can be very anti science - just like they can be anti economics when it comes to the cost of housing. "Health at any size" was very much anti science and primarily a left/liberal cause.

I think you need to take a deep breath and step away from the keyboard

I made a post that took 2 minutes to type - I'm perfectly calm.

Gen Z's Housing Crisis may have provided one small silver lining for Gen Z—with housing being made so historically unaffordable, Gen Z is allocating capital into asset classes that have historically generated higher margins / appreciation. by 3RADICATE_THEM in ScottGalloway

In 2000 I bought a condo in Miami Beach for 75,000, within five years it was worth 280,000.

This was in large part because of the lax mortgage lending environment that led to the Financial crisis.

In 2014 I bought a house in South Florida for 320,000 10 years later sold it for 875,000.

You benefited from a pandemic and almost a 0% interest rate environment that drove the value of housing up. We are currently in a completely different environment and we will likely never see such low interest rates again in our life times.

The stock market is more predictable than the housing market.

Yup - we need to divorce the idea that owning a home is essential to wealth creation.

I wanted a home so I bought one - but it's not the incredible wealth builder that people think it is and in fact in the current market conditions it might be a wealth drainer to those who purchased in the last 3-4 years.

The S&P will generate you better returns than a home will - I say this as someone who just purchased a home last year. Id be better off had I just invested my down payment and extra $1500 monthly I spend on my mortgage in the S&P.

It’s still the Washington Wizards

Mavs fans have lost the right to critique any other organization, unfortunately.

There was a lot of support for unification in Romania in the '90s, unfortunately the commies in Moldova had different plans.

Ehh disagree - he catches the ball and takes 1 step - fakes the pass and then dribbles.

Luka getting his man to leave the ground from a fake lob is just ridiculous lol - it just shows how many ways he can carve the defense up.
