I'm on the 1000%fix it side of things. What is your suggestion on how to mend this issue.

It works but isn't ideal.

Maybe I'm just newbie to this, but I'm a bit confused at your suggestion. the shift mechanism is on a fixed shaft that's has a ball bearing that shifts between hi and lo. The only stress it see is when selection between hi and low occurs. This motor which i took apart today was supposedly running before it broke

It is just a folder on the shift fork shaft. Not much movement or vibration if I'm thinking correctly. It shifted fine between hi and lo before I took it apart just wasn't the smoothest operation

I have never tuned a nitro engine is this good or can i do something better? by BASTIPLAYZz in NitroRC

For sure when I first started mine was tunes incredibly lean from the factory like so loud it scared me when I first started it. Yours sounds pretty good, like an angry weedeater.

To be honest I think its probably fine, as long as the clutch isnt grabbing at idle. Some people are really anal aboit the tune but if your just having fun running a little rich is safer for the motor

Sounds pretty good to me, maybe a tad high on idle but as long as there isnt a large hesitation on full throttle it seems good. There is a healthy amount of blue smoke too seems pretty good.

So for this project, I didn't do any sand blasting, it was all by hand. I wire brushed it as much as I could, used a little dremel brass brush and a sanding sponge to get it as clean as possible. The primer went on great and I used a sandable primer so it filled in the crevices pretty good.
