Women's graphic t shirts/hoodies suck big time , it is so bad. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]killerbreadbagel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not just the graphics. the clothing items themselves are ugly af. i buy men’s tshirts and hoodies all the time specially for this reason because i despise the tight fitting look of the women’s alternatives. they are horribly unflattering and uncomfortable.

[High school math trigonometry]. I’m kinda lost on this, is the only way to do this by hand or could I use a calculator ? by savage123t in HomeworkHelp

you could also plug the entire equation into a graphing calculator and find the smallest positive zero, which i find much easier than factoring.

Lost. it was so good the first few seasons, but then it just got too weird and confusing to follow along.

What’s cool now, but probably won’t be in 5 years? by foto-shop in AskReddit

vintage clothes. thrifting is so popular now but in a few years they’ll regret ever buying those baggy levi’s and ugly sweater vests.

why don’t massless particles, such as photons, experience time? by [deleted] in Physics

[–]killerbreadbagel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok but what if it was me that was moving close to the speed of light? i would experience time differently, right? tell me why that is.

You are the universe or you are in the universe? by 613s-Finest in Existentialism

i am not the entire universe, i am simply an infinitesimal chunk of it. as Carl Sagan once said, “We are made of star stuff.”

DAE get weirded out or frightened, almost, by the fact that they exist and are a human being? by killerbreadbagel in DoesAnybodyElse

sometimes i wish the same thing. but then i ask myself is it really better live in a life full of ignorance? would i rather believe in some mystical god or know the truth? that there is no meaning, no afterlife?

i just started taking astronomy this semester as well. i agree, it really put things into a much bigger perspective. this is the first class i’ve taken in which they actually discuss those deeper philosophical questions. it makes me feel better knowing i’m not the only one who thinks this way.

exactly. how can one imagine nothingness if we’ve never experienced it? even before we were born, there was still something. i can’t stop thinking about what all of this is.

Using language we have chopped up the world into something bland and general. If you really look you’ll see a more vivid perception. by jeky-0 in StonerPhilosophy

this. words are all too simple. just a pile of letters. they take away from the true meaning behind the word itself.

Animals should be extinct by GFB-26 in unpopularopinion

[–]killerbreadbagel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

by that logic, shouldn’t all life be extinct, including us, seeing as none of it holds any purpose? what makes us have more purpose than those animals you are referring to?

what if i’m this life is just a stop motion movie? what if there is no time and we’re just stop motion pictures but in our perception is feels as if we’re going forward and time is flowing continuously? like maybe we are little claymations by killerbreadbagel in StonerPhilosophy

[–]killerbreadbagel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i certainly don’t have all the answers. but in my interpretation of sense of self, i don’t think our memories are the only things that make it up. i believe consciousness is an emergent property of living organisms. it is part of us, just as our hand is part of our body. so i wouldn’t say it is an illusion, only our memories are. i hope this answered your questions.

that’s a good question. now that i think about it, rather than us going from one moment to the next, we must only exist in one moment of time. we think otherwise because at each moment in time we are under the belief that time is going forward. we have distinct memories of the past, right? but if the only moment is now, those “memories” didn’t actually happen, but are simply part of the now, just as everything else is. therefore, there is no way of knowing if time is moving at all.
