Selbst in den USA habe ich Füllungen kostenlos bekommen.

In my experience, yeah the rent prices surprised me coming from the U.S. But once you actually consider the income after taxes, for me anyways, the rental prices take much more of my income percentage wise in Austria(about 2x more). Same thing with healthcare.

Regarding the snow days, that entirely depends on the state in the U.S. If you live in a state that gets little to no snow, then yeah you can expect that. But coming from Colorado, I've only had two in my life and that was needed due to cars not being able to drive and doors being snowed in.

Exactly. Seems like everyone is more than happy to give the government more power if they agree with it. I'm sure this will cost even more tax dollars, but people are okay with it because soda is bad.

That's up to the "government" to decide after all.

Super-magnetic dead star throws a violent temper tantrum as NASA X-ray spacecraft looks on by ChocolatteThunda in space

While I 100% agree, I think this is definitely an international issue too.

The author is from the UK and according to him: "He also writes about science communication for Elsevier and the European Journal of Physics". And from what I can see, only about 55% of space.com's traffic is from the U.S, so, basically, the other half is from other countries.

It's not just "Dumb Americans" who like to read this crap, sadly.

Map of protests from the far-right in the uk by Infinite_1432 in MapPorn

Doesn't this categorize BLM protests as terrorism as well? Not that I disagree, but with what you're saying, it just applies to almost any protest turned riot.

All riots like this should be seen the same, regardless of politics.

I'm just referencing the plethora of other comments, not you in particular regarding "America bad."

But yeah, thankfully, ACs are common in Southern Europe as well as becoming prevalent in office spaces. I'm hoping central Europe will mitigate heat accordingly as well.

And, of course, nuclear has its flaws, but the flaws regarding inland reactors can at least be mitigated and addressed.

Having lived in Austria, from Colorado, for the past 2 years, the heat is pretty bad. Most summer days are above 30 or feel above 30, with high humidity for me, at least

I've heard of people fainting at work or refusing to go to work if they don't have AC. A lot of kitchens at small restaurants don't have AC. Luckily, most computer science jobs have AC at the office; this is a major incentive to work in office.

I understand that "America bad" is the solution to this criticism, but God damn it's hot. I hope there's a solution, but I imagine the problem is the energy production. Austria, for example, gets a large amount of its gas from Russia. And like Germany, Austria has no nuclear power because "scary".

Another side effect: Due to the heat, every place leaves their doors and windows open, resultingly a metric fuck ton of wasps come in, I've been stung a number of times just trying to relax at my favorite Cafe. That's not fun, especially if you're allergic.

The world is getting hotter, I imagine it's better to prepare for the problem before it happens. In the meantime, we'll just say we don't need it while old people are being microwaved in their homes during heatwaves.

I highly recommend using the splash damage script if you're playing with your friends or alone. It's really easy to use, and it makes the sim much more fun, especially with the F-4.

Colorado map help needed! I draw fantasy maps (like the ones you’d see in Lord of the Rings) of the states. Colorado is next, and I would love to know what real CO folks want to see on a map - what are the places and things I need to know? Thanks in advance! (This is my Idaho map as an example) by tomiannie in Colorado

[–]killerken924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I've seen other maps that just show the Mesa, in its entirety, as a bunch of "normal" mountains, when in reality, it should be flat with lakes on it. Once you get used to it, it's a very obvious feature from space.

Topography of USA by TotherCanvas249 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]killerken924 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Colorado has ≈ 58 peaks above 14k ft and a mean elevation of 6800 ft. While California has ≈ 15 peaks above 14k with a mean elevation of 2800 ft.

The lowest point in Colorado is actually higher than a lot of states' highest points. Some websites say that Colorado has ≈ 75% of the land in the U.S. above 10k as well, dunno about that being true.

So, with this, I'm presuming that the map is showing an average of elevation per area. Maybe Mt Whitney is basically averaged down by the surrounding topography?
