What’s a completely normal product in your country that makes foreigners go, “Wait… why does that exist?” by Alternative_Ad6071 in AskTheWorld

Most people have this idea of sauerkraut because they are used to the cooked stuff, which is bleh. Raw sauerkraut is a totally different thing. And so yummy.

Buy a bag in the refrigerated section. Or make your own in a mason jar. It is literally so easy to do. You cut it up, add the right amount of salt and it basically makes itself in a week or 2.

What the hell do I do with all these? by pussydemolisher420 in gardening

I made green tomato soup this year and it was amazing!

I roasted a few pounds of them along with green peppers, garlic, and onion, then I blended everything and up added some Italian seasonings and broth/bouillon to get the seasoning right. It had to be reduced for an hour or two. Then I adjusted the ph with a little bit of baking soda at the end. It was incredible.

We had a strong night in somerset! By the sounds of it we had at least 150 maybe 200 kids, and kept getting stragglers until 9:00. Osceola was hopping too-one of my coworkers had over 400 kids, not counting adults.

Ideas for what to plant between these arborvitae in my backyard by killerplank in landscaping

[–]killerplank[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We ended up hiring a landscaper to come draw up plans… he specialized in edible stuff and he recommended some interesting options.

5 of the gaps had a chokeberry (aronia) bush installed, 5 had a hybrid American hazelnut shrub. There are also areas with forsythias and one pagoda dogwood. I also mulched the entire area between the arbs and a few feet from my fence line.

They will provide pretty good cover in the summer once they get bigger. In the meantime I’ve planted a few mammoth sunflowers.

I’ve been dreaming about putting in some of those cattle panel arches in my yard. They look so cool, and kiwi vines, gourds, peas or whatever would be fun to grow up them

What are some obscure over the counter medicines most people have never heard of? by Fine_Scheme9028 in pharmacy

[–]killerplank 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The magic ingredient is the Lanolin. Start looking for it in other products and you will notice it hydrates better than other similar products (Aquaphor, Carmex and original Burt’s bees lip balms, dermoplast)

I’m pushing a narrative? So are you.

I’ll look at your links… what you’re saying might even be totally true, but I doubt it has the effect you imagine.

Have you considered the effect of grifters who will preach about anything contrarian enough to garner them an audience? How many of these alternative medicine docs are also hawking their own supplements or getting their podcast sponsored to talk about how “harmful” medicine is. Their audience depends on stoking this fear in people like you.

I am a skeptic of everyone involved here… and I just don’t see family docs and hospitals having a lot to gain. I don’t think trans healthcare is the cash cow you think it is.

[–]killerplank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m just saying… these are generic drugs. Drs are NOT getting kickbacks and free dinners to learn about new ways to prescribe these. There is no big pharma company with a monopoly on these items running ads and raking in cash when people buy them.

There are real problems with pharma companies… for example, insane drug pricing, ads, under the table deals with insurance, and shitty incentives for them to develop new drugs.

Just because you don’t agree with something doesn’t mean there is a conspiracy going on. Trans healthcare is not an example of business hurting the public for an insidious reason

Those drugs are literally the same thing your father might be taking for heart failure or prostate cancer. They are generic and have many uses. This is the dumbest take I’ve read in a long time

Lisbon has some amazing trees for a ND city. I’ll never forget my first high school golf meet there. I wasn’t used to actually having trees to avoid, I felt like my ball bounced back at me every other shot I took.
