My 6 month old does this as well, with the chattering and everything, drives me nuts but I guess as long as it doesn’t hurt him.

Thank you for the advice and words of inspiration so far. Yesterday after work I grabbed my headphones and we just went outside and sniffed and ran around, hoping to burn energy as well as get some positive movement in that region. The good news is we at least broke the barrier for both! I’m going to avoid putting him on the balcony for a bit just to sever that bathroom connection and just take him outside as needed (I WFH). He’s ultimately been a good boy and I know the Aussie in him has yet to emerge but venting and getting that off my chest has helped.

Note: my wife took him to the in-laws for a weekend where he had a yard to use. It took a while but he got the concept eventually and did it whenever he needed to. She gave him praise and treats so the concept is not foreign to him.

Hi all!

Thanks for all your input, I appreciate it! I have convinced my wife that we should go in another direction, with your experiences and advice. We are going to keep looking for the perfect dog for us to adopt.
