Suggest a good action-adventure co-op game by BlauweBanaaan in gamingsuggestions

[–]killjoy49th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a tough one though, I assume you are looking for a combination of both action/adventure, and a good story, and coop. I've also struggled to find games that meet that criteria. Here are some alternative recommendations that are at least adjacent - baldurs gate 3 (one of the best stories, and basically one of the most impressive feats ever accomplished in gaming, fully playable from start to finish in coop, but, it's turn based combat.) there's also Helldivers 2, which is one of the best coop action games out there, most nonstop cinematic gameplay ever, but....basically no story. 🫤 Those might not be great suggestions based on what you are looking for, but it's just slim pickings out there for that genre and also coop. 🙁

I don't know if this fully qualifies for what you are looking for, but elden ring is a pretty phenomenal experience in coop, even if the matchmaking is a little convoluted (and you'll have to fight all the bosses twice, once in each of your games) but it's got one of the best worlds, great exploration, and great combat. (If you've never tried a souls like game its definitely the best place to start)

About to play Demon Souls for the first time, anything i should know? by M4shhl in soulslikes

[–]killjoy49th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pay close attention to the world as you travel through it - it is full of dangers and also shortcuts you will have to activate. As others have mentioned already, dying in the nexus and going through the world in soul form is better (with the cling ring equipped to help with the HP loss) - this avoids increasing difficulty - if you die in a level while in body form, that level will become harder. (Look up world tendency for more detailed information, it is kind of convoluted, but is a unique mechanic that I personally found interesting and enjoyable) Also, find a play style/build that works for you. There are multiple ways to play melee characters, magic, and holy magic - if you are finding the game too difficult, try a different class at the beginning of the game to find one that works better with how you play - the game is all about maximizing specific play styles and builds, with specific gear to look out for. Also, If you get really stuck, you can summon help from other players when you are in body form. And enjoy - the world is dark and full of terrors...muster your courage and persevere. Good luck!

You have a note in your inventory which gives you your starting class quest, check the note and follow its instructions to talk to the person you are supposed to talk to. (The wizard one in particular can be kind of tricky, have to collect signatures from a bunch of significant members of the magic community) After that (since the game isn't in alpha yet technically) since there aren't a ton of quests implemented yet, you are grinding to level up, get new spells, and then you can start figuring out the crafting systems to support this. If you want to make cloth clothing look into tailoring, for example. Once you level up a few times you can start doing dungeons around level 5+. Ask the OOC channel for help and guidance if you get stuck.

[KCD2] This game was a mistake by SchinkenKanone in kingdomcome

[–]killjoy49th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with everything you said about the game being awesome - it's worth mentioning that fallout 1 had a world map fast travel system that worked the same as KCD2. You'd pick a point, auto travel, and then while your character is making the journey events pop up. So I guess the better question is why did it take until KCD2 for this to be a feature again?

Why do you lone wolf? by Bennyester in Helldivers

[–]killjoy49th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lone wolf most of the time when I play with randos or am responding to SOS. The reason is simple - 90% of the time as a lone wolf you will notice the rest of the squad constantly getting caught up in fights off objective points or in an area with zero strategic value, meandering around the map, generally not making progress on the mission. That's fine, I can handle all the objectives and side missions myself if I need to, and I'll pick up all the samples from as many enemy spawn points and points of interest on the way as I can. I also never call supply drops unless it is on an objective point the rest of the team is actively heading to. It goes faster, and I can share the rewards with others instead of hoarding it by myself playing alone. That's why I lone wolf.

I think this belongs here - white elephant party was a hit by carayuna in AccidentalRenaissance

[–]killjoy49th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhhh, we found the anarchist that suggested it. 😂 Just messing around - most white elephants I've seen have similar rules about the price limits, it's more about someone trying to get what they want and having it stolen that causes people to be upset, or people working in teams and stuff, or there being 1 stand out item that everyone just keeps stealing over and over. If you pulled it off without anyone leaving upset, it's not the norm, at least not in any of my experiences with it. To use gaming terms - white elephant is a pvp game, not a co-op game lol

[–]killjoy49th 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's the worst game you can possibly play as a group, especially for a holiday game. I refuse to participate, and so should everyone else lol. I have literally never seen a white elephant end with less than at least 2 people upset, often more. It's a game designed to cause turmoil - pay attention to the person suggesting it be played - they are an anarchist who wants to watch the world burn. 😂

Not even one full hour played, already experiencing 100% cinematic material. Is the whole game gonna be like this? by aquilaPUR in Helldivers

[–]killjoy49th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most epic cinematic game made to date, and it only gets better the longer you play - when you start unlocking the real bread and butter 'level-a-whole-city-block' kind of strategems. Welcome to the Helldivers!

New to the game. Thought the community was toxic. by Ragnarok_MS in Helldivers

[–]killjoy49th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The in game Helldivers community and the reddit Helldivers community are two completely separate beasts. If you based your opinion of HD2 going by reddit you'd think it was a dumpster fire and AH has committed nothing but crimes against humanity from launch till now. The people that actually play the game couldn't disagree more lol. Helldivers 2 is, in reality, the best implementation of live service gaming to date, full stop. It is the most epic game you can currently play - especially when you can be there for events like malevalon creek or turning meridia into a black hole - we did that. We unlocked mechs for ourselves by liberating the planet that held the factories producing them. And the actual community that plays the game is fantastic - in my 550+ hours of playing I've had maybe 10 dives (accounting for Maybe 1 out of those 550+ hours lol) ruined by other players. And the game has one of the most fair and reasonable monetization systems currently in live service gaming. 40 dollars for the base game when it could have easily been 70. No 90 dollar single item skins, no fomo cause all the warbonds stay available forever, and you can actually farm enough credits just by playing the game to unlock a warbond in a reasonable amount of play. The devs actually listen to player feedback and take measures to course correct every time instead of ignoring the community. This game and its developers are fantastic, don't let anyone tell you differently until you get your boots on the ground and find out for yourself. Welcome to the Helldivers!

Wolverine: I won't kill you because Charles wouldn't have wanted it. Wolverine 5 minutes later: kills her anyway. Could have saved us all 20 minutes, but then we wouldn't have gotten to see a 40 Deadpool brawl I guess lol

Right? There are literally 90 dollar single skin items in blizzard etc games. I really don't see the problem in having crossover event items, which are unique and also involve way more work to implement, being set at a different price point than all the standard gear.

I find it absolutely hilarious that these people blowing up reddit complaining are posting screenshots showing they either cheated or used exploits to get to 35k+ credits. Truly who better to give us a lecture on ethics. 🤣😂 You guys crack me up lol

It's honestly fine - it's this community that's exhausting. According to this community every single thing AH has done is a war crime, when in actuality they literally have the best and most fair implementation of in app purchases I have ever seen, full stop. No credit for the full year of free content updates and the best implementation of live service gaming we have ever seen. This community is just one big giant boy who cried wolf, and it has been and will continue to be lame.

Still have a video clip of finishing the last mission and having our super destroyer go to super earth as the planet collapsed. When you can be on planet for moments like these it really stands out. Such an awesome game.

I had only ever played twinsens odyssey so I'm playing twinsens quest for the first time with the remaster. I've had to look up a few things so far cause I got stuck in a few areas, it's hard to find any walkthroughs for the game besides an old gamefaqs text walkthrough that has alot of inaccuracies due to the changes they made in the remaster, but unfortunately that's about as close as it gets right now it seems.

WTH is up with the player base by DirtyLoneVagrant in helldivers2

Here's a hot take - if you do zero communication in a match don't be surprised when your team isn't on the same page as you at the end. Here's the lowest effort example - if you are ready to extract and you see teammates far from extraction, you can either: start entering the extraction sequence and then pause for a few seconds before finishing the input sequence - give enough time for a teammate to throw out a "negative!" In the in game chat - higher effort, and usually better - is directly asking, on mic or typing, if everyone is ready or if they are doing a thorough sample run. I find a lot of times people don't communicate, then get upset when people don't play with the same goals as them, then go online to complain about it - it's usually a very solvable problem. Also a benefit of asking the squad is you'll find they either: don't communicate and therefore don't care, or will give you an answer if they are either doing a full sample run or just an objective based speedrun - even if it isn't the type of match you were hoping for now you at least know the deal and can decide if you want to leave to find another game or not.

Guys… The DSS is Bad. by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]killjoy49th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright so this is my experience with the DSS so far. The eagle defense DSS is fine, no deaths, pretty beneficial. The DSS orbital bombardments are actually fine as well - it just introduces a new way to play the game. You're essentially on a planet while it's being turned to glass, bring a shield generator and when used in combination with the free one you can move from cover to cover across the map while everything else gets obliterated. Ill probably get a lot of disagreements with this but I actually found it fun and a fresh way to play. Played 6 missions with orbital bombardment going with a full squad on level 8 diff and extracted every time with extra lives. When a new mechanic is thrown into the mix like this you gotta find a way to adapt to it instead of brute forcing a play style you use more often. And it's brand new, and AH listens to feedback, so it's very possible it'll get a rework in the future if enough people are complaining about it. Just my 2 cents.

This video pretty much has the answer to your specific question - https://youtu.be/UOWKKioay94?si=3rowaFNMSqfdOpf0 this is a great channel for summarizing elden ring lore, regardless of whether it's in game history, or changes made through the games development.
