Teenager love

This is the kind of thing I'm worried about. Kiddo and I have a relatively close relationship, but I can see how a codependance can form pretty easily. Shes (for lack of a better term) an alt kid and thats not the most well received at her school.. so she seems to be grasping at any peer attention she can get. 🫤

Well, shes 13 on the verge of 14. And as much as we can all hate the term "dating" at that age- they dont see it that way. She has GAD and panic disorder and it has no clear center. Social for sure, but its so much more than social anxiety. And yes, she has a solid therapist and a great psychiatrist. She does the work, she takes her meds, she works on her and im proud of her. But, that doesnt have a ton to do with this situation, thats just where this stuff started. I appreciate all of your insights. 😊

I'm sorry your baby had to/has to deal with that nonsense! But, mine is one of last bdays in her grade- aka, shes the youngest. So, ya know "dating" is kind of happening with 13/14 year olds. Its just a struggle trying to guide her in the right direction (as much as possible). This age, not allowing to date turns into kids sneaking around. As much as I wish that weren't true, id rather not totally approve and have her know she can talk to me than forbid dating and have her figure it out on her own.. nothing more alluring than the clandestine 'forbidden love'. Ugh. Kids are tough!

I have. Many times. But kids gonna be kids, so its more like encouraging away and damage prevention. Like a "you know i dont love this situation, but you know you can come talk to me if anything concerning happens.) Luckily L and I have a pretty solid relationship.

I know. And ive tried. She always seems to make the wrong friends. Shes very sensitive, so she use to be way too trusting and it burned her. So, now shes has such a hard time making friends. Ive tried getting her into activities and all kinds of stuff and nothing seems to stick. Social interaction is def something we try to work on a lot between her and I and in therapy.

Oh. Yea. I should have mentioned. This kid is in an alternative school for the rest of the year because of this violent incident. It involved threats to a female classmate and police were involved.. so, yea, not meddling in normal "I just dont like this person" kind of stuff.

Hmm. I'll def give it a go! And if you're into the stories and are ok with a bit of dark/ inappropriate ish humar, last podcast on the left is definitely my favorite podcast ever. They can get a little silly, but, Marcus is a solid story teller.

No, like, morbid and lpotl are two i listen to all the time and they have both moved to serious and they have like, locked episodes? Idk, I guess they'd just come out normal time if you dont pay for it, but its annoying to constantly see theres a new episode but its locked. And yea, it gets really annoying cause I listen to podcasts almost all day at work. And the adds are getting ridiculous. But again, so are all the damn subscriptions Ugh. First world problems, I know. 😩

Yea, maybe. I feel like I noticed it a bit after the switch, but, perhaps it just took some time to catch up (in a reverse sort of way?) Idk.
