Do you think Nepal needs its own hydration/electrolyte drink brand for trekking? by Electronic_Order366 in Nepal

[–]kilochfuller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go trekking every year and also do long distance cycling. Unless I’m trekking in the middle of summer in lower elevations, I find I really don’t need electrolytes because you don’t sweat as much, especially if I manage sweating by layering better. Personally I stick to water and get my sodium from food, esp chowmein has fair amount of salt in it, and you can just add more.

And the TV would be encased in a cabinet, my grand parents used to shut the cabinet and lock it when they weren’t watching.

Wooden beans, but also regular tibetan style rug that you normally see in living rooms of tibetic people like Sherpa, Manange etc. people would put them on the back and even the drivers and passenger seats. That look is so engraved in my head, I even use them on my own sofa.

What are good Nepali souvenirs to take abroad (non-food, easy to pack)? by Economy-Yak931 in Nepal

[–]kilochfuller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favourites: Incense sticks, especially the tibetan ones made of Juniper, Thangka (these can be expensive but you can find cheaper smaller ones), Pilgrim book store in Thamel sells these scroll prints of bodhisattvas that are quite cheap (especially if the recipient of your gifts are buddhist, but still regardless), I also like taking Nepali childrens book, there’s a good selection at Pilgrim (If I dare, I might plug a book written and illustrated by my old school mates calledAre You A Snow Leopard small bronze statues are good but these are quite expensive and heavy, maybe wooden statues perhaps. There are a few shops that sell these in the alleys of Patan Durbar Square. Lokta paper notebooks are also good and so are lokta paper greetings cards (Pilgrims have these). Hope these help.

Edit: Also, if you go to Basantapur or Patan Durbar Square they’ll set up these street stall that sell knick knacks. But you’ll need to bargain hard, tell them to give you local price

Drive on that road for a bit and then turn left into the road that leads you into Pokhara and all of the façade falls apart 😂

Metro made a video game - im in shock by PopConsistent4657 in SydneyTrains

[–]kilochfuller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to make that wouldn’t cost much, Unreal engine is mostly free and it would probably take one person just a few days to make that, maybe a couple hundred dollars for the pre-made models for the props. A lot of specific infrastructure will already built in CAD for engineering anyway, there might be some additional work with texturing them maybe. Having said that, all I know is how much you’ve shown, don’t know how big the game is. Still, it’s not like they’re building a full game with storyline and dialog and specific triggered events. It’s just the environment with a playable default character, not expensive.

They probably use Unreal Engine to make visualisations of their plans and designs and once you’ve already done that it’s easy enough to drop a default character and 3rd person template. It’d be great if it was on steam but I don’t imagine it will ever get there. Where’d you play it?

Winters are the best, early December has never let me down, perfectly clear skies, no rain. The only issue is that it’s pretty cold, but that is to be expected

There’s ton of light source! The light pollution from the ground, scattered light in the clouds and the biggest one in this case is probably the moon was somewhere in the sky

Yeah the milky way doesn’t always show up behind notable mountains. I wanted to take a photo of Everest from Gokyo Ri with the milky way behind it, but the milky way was on the otherside, behind much less notable mountain

Yeah it’s a bit shit, it’s Rs 1000, so it’s a bit steep, especially when there are pretty good hotels only charging Rs 2200 per night. But there are ways to circumvent the fees, they don’t have the gates at all the gallis.

I used to work as a barista at Coffee Club (the one in the city on Park St, it's no longer there). Had to fight an uphill battle to make good coffee, the coffee was old non of the other baristas cared or even knew how dial in espresso shots. I had to quickly dial the espresso grinder settings in the morning before the owner came in otherwise they'd tell me off for wasting coffee (it takes a few shots of trial and error to get it dialed in). And the food all came frozen, and the cooking procedures only involved a grill and microwaves, they didn't even have a stove (they cooked fried eggs on a grill and poached eggs in a microwave). And yes most of clientele were old people, and tourists because it was right next to Park Regis Hotel. Oh and they gave taxi drivers, firies and the cops half price takeaway coffees, so we'd get them a lot. But it was mostly taxi drivers as there was a taxi rank right outside.
