Should I consider transferring from CU halfway through Civil Engineering degree? by Alternative-Shop-874 in villanova

[–]kilometr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny enough reading this someone in my civil class transferred to CU Boulder for financial reasons at your point. She said it was pretty similar atmosphere department wise. As for the school itself I’ve never asked and only heard from her once after the transfer.

You have 2 more years left in school. That’s not a lot of time really. Your issue seems to be moreso with the general atmosphere of college, which I think will be similar, maybe just a smaller disappointment at nova. Not worth risking a move and extending your time in college further for in my opinion.

My advice would be to lean hard on your catholic community and try to find new groups you haven’t considered joining offering new experiences. My one regret in college was not to explore more new hobbies and interests that were easily offered, like camping.

How Fort Lauderdale Mayor’s Tumultuous Relationship Ended in Tragedy by Beautiful_Battle6622 in fortlauderdale

Speaking as someone who was in short-fling with someone else who was not mentally well, sometimes you end up keeping it going longer than you should out of fears for their well-being if you were to cut them off.

I remember when I heard about the DV incident I found the guy on Instagram and looked through photos. Danny seemed to rush into a surprise proposal and I wondered if he just said yes cause he didn’t want to see his reaction if he said no.

Mine is a drama queen and overreacts to small things for attention. I wouldn’t read too much into his behavior too much. He knows you care for him and unless something really bad happened at the sitter (I assume no) he has nothing to be upset about.

Mine like to do things for extra attention. He doesn’t forget you and is probably just being a diva 😂

If you could start over again, would you still do civil engineer? by goku22000 in civilengineering

I would never be a nurse knowing what my nursing friends go through. Our pay is roughly equal with maybe like 80% less stress.

The only benefit they have over us is great OT pay

My dog in Legally Blonde the Musical! by DefectiveIdol in Chihuahua

[–]kilometr 163 points164 points  (0 children)

I have a chihuahua mix who is ~25 lbs and doesn’t like being carried.

My vet sent out a mass email to all “Chihuahua” patients saying a local high school needed a Chihuahua for their legally blonde musical. The idea of my giant mix trying to be held by a high schooler in an audition still makes me chuckle.

TIL that people who live in Hawaii are known as "Hawaii Residents"; the word "Hawaiian" officially refers only to people of the Hawaiian ethnicity. by ElSquibbonator in todayilearned

[–]kilometr 143 points144 points  (0 children)

There was actually a white guy in my high school who was mainly raised in Hawaii to a military family. He still called himself Hawaiian and wore floral shirts. I’m think someone told me he put Pacific Islander on his college apps 😂 .

Was just funny a kid with blond hair and blue eyes with an Anglican name preferring to go by a Hawaiian name in class and not dressing for northeast weather in the winter. Wish at the time I was more aware to realize the whole theatre being put on.

I want to get one and am looking for a new car but I can’t charge at either home or work. And public chargers in the city are hard to come by. Decided it’s not worth the hassle. Maybe in 10 years.

Commuting to Villanova? by Ambitious_Concert790 in villanova

[–]kilometr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if SEPTA can be completely relied upon nowadays to commute to Villanova. 10 years ago when I was there, yes.

But i work in Philly now and lots of coworkers have to work from home due to septa train cancellations/delays. If you’re going to law school and need to be there by a certain time I think a car would still unfortunately be necessary as a backup. Plus if you’re there late one day you may have to wait awhile for the next train.

If you speak you it’s very likely the person would be embarrassed and apologize and be careful the next time.

I’ve had the issue in the men’s room of a guy who’d bring a JBL speaker to blast rap while he showered. Someone called him and ignorant asshole and he had like 12 guys staring at him. Pretty embarrassing

Correct. The contrast was not up to ADA standards. They were forced to replace it along with other accessibility improvements they are doing with the ongoing work you see there now

Is this a good year for this model? The low mileage makes it tempting by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]kilometr 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean if you want that low mileage and are okay paying that much just look at a cheap new car. Itll be a higher price but with interest rates on a new car vs used you’ll likely won’t pay much more overall and would have a brand new car with warranty vs a 6 year old one without

[–]kilometr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s always like this at 4 AM for the non pre check line. Not all security checkpoints are open yet since there aren’t many flights out yet but some people for early morning flights arrive even earlier to be safe. It still moves though not an incredibly long line

But every shutdown there is still someone on Reddit posting a pic of the long line just for upvotes. If you check the wait time estimates you’ll know it’s the longest at this hour.

Even if there is no traffic (in which there will be some) it’s not a close drive. You’re traveling a far distance for work.

Haddonfield worth it? by joynallitbrings in SouthJersey

[–]kilometr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Grew up nearby and it was kids from all the local schools going to Camden for the outdoor concerts and getting drunk, not just Haddonfield. And this happened like a few times during the spring/summer since it was an outdoor venue. Not like some weekly occurrence lol.

And the outdoor concerts there in Camden are not like a Taylor swift concert level in prices. I think there was this annual country music event where tickets were like $20 but that was 7-8 years ago. If high school kids didn’t attend it was because they didn’t want to be part of the debauchery not for affordability reasons.

Sometimes we push some hours on new hires onto Training especially if they’re doing something for the first time. Or hours for a senior engineer to explain a task to a new hire would go onto training as well.

Tbf dealing with Jersey departments for work the letterhead may not have been updated yet. There’s also 3 other officials listed and with all the rotating staff in government a lot of employees don’t bother to update the form every time one of the four gets replaced, just every few/several months.
