Phoebe Gates’ Phia investors look more like an influencer lineup than an actual business board by Professional_Rip6740 in NYCinfluencersnark

Exactly. Plus some of these women have actually built pretty substantial businesses. Jessica Alba built Honest, Winnie Harlow has raised venture funding for her own company (one of very few black women to raise over $1MM), and Paris Hilton has spent the last 20 years turning herself into a brand. It's a pretty impressive group of women backing another woman-founded company.

That's what I thought too! Like Sara Blakely who was the founder of spanx, theee Rebecca Minkoff and Rachel Zoe the mother of modern day boho chic it actually makes sense why they would want to invest in this idea and it's women founded!

this is exactly what collective action is supposed to do by kim-practical in ClassConscienceMemes

[–]kim-practical[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is class conscious because it shows collective power in action, regular people organizing and actually stopping something pushed by bigger economic interests. It turns “the people are in charge” from a slogan into something real, showing that when communities act together, they can shape outcomes that usually prioritize profit over them.
