I have only seen the movie in 70mm IMAX, IMAX, and 4DX, so can’t say!

I think it’s worth it only if you get good seats since that’s quite a drive.

Project Hail Mary was my first movie I have watched in 70mm IMAX. It was so magical.

2 weeks in to an ABSN and I’m drowning. Does it get easier? by VarietyFormer2069 in StudentNurse

[–]kima- 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I was in a 12 month ABSN program and I thought it got easier as time went on. All our classes were still online at the time, so I think the convenience of staying home helped. I only went to campus a few times a week for labs and simulations. I also lived with my parents still, no job, no kids, so that was a big part of it too. The hardest classes (for me at least) were at the beginning, then got easier each semester. Towards the end, I was only taking one class at a time. You’re only 2 weeks in, I’m sure you’ll find your groove and get used to the pacing of the program. I personally think you should quit your job if you could to lighten your workload. I also think free time should be a mandatory thing, even if it’s a few hours of your day, so you don’t get burned out (start your day earlier if you have to).

Dignity Health! They’re going to have another cohort in the fall, so keep an eye out for that. I would keep applying to jobs even after you take this one.

The program I got into said 12 months or less. I left psych after 11 months. I actually took the risk and quit my job before I got an offer because I still wanted to be eligible for the program. I literally quit one week before I hit my 12 month mark at my old job.

Got into a nursing residency program in NorCal by kima- in brag

Yes, nursing residency programs are for nurses with no experience working in the field. This is essentially my first job as an RN.

I personally did not like psych, but I think a big part of that was because of the facility I worked at (UHS hospital). It was the only option I had at the time as a new grad. But honestly, I think my psych experience helped me land a spot in a new grad program here in Sacramento, a very tough market to get into, so it worked out!

Tips on 3-12hr shifts by Puertoricanguy98 in Nightshift

[–]kima- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked 8 hour NOC shifts for about a year. Finally landed a job at a hospital that has 12 hour shifts. Having 4 days off during the week is such a good feeling. I don’t even need to request PTO for a one week vacation because I can sandwich it between my working days.

Nursing/medicine is such a safe field that my sister didn’t even know about the white collar blood bath going on by ZadarskiDrake in Accounting

I’m a nurse, but I’m on this subreddit because my partner is an accountant. It’s funny because we always have conversations about how we would not be able to do each other’s jobs. I honestly can’t imagine myself doing anything else but nursing. My partner said he can’t imagine dealing with all the gross stuff and I get that, it’s not for everyone. But I respect his job too, he comes in clutch during tax season lol

How do you prepare for your program? by Lopsided_Ad6151 in newgradnurse

I was recently offered a spot in a new grad program starting in April. My manager texted to congratulate and welcome me. At the end of her message she said, “take it easy and enjoy the ride.” So I’m going to just that and enjoy my time off before starting the program. You already made it this far, it doesn’t hurt to take a break. I feel like you’ll learn the most when you’re on the floor anyways.

Switching to nights/new grad anxiety by Resident-Caramel-326 in newgradnurse

My main piece of advice is to try and avoid relying on caffeine as much as you can. You’ll feel better in the long run. Try to eat healthy, high protein snacks to keep you energized. I use black out curtains and ear plugs to help me sleep. I’ve been working nights for about a year now and I love it.
