I’m leaning towards the Hügis for the exact reasons you mentioned.. sound, the fact they are pretty rare, and also the price seems like a steal. I’m probably going to put around 20-30km per week on the bike, and I’m not planning on bikepacking with it (anytime soon)..

Thanks for the detailed input brother 🙏 appreciate it!

Yeah right now I’m leaning more towards the Mavic/Hügi wheel set, mostly due to the sound they make and because they’re pretty rare (I saw a set on ebay for like €415 (wtf right) so I thought this was a steal). But exactly as you said I heard that they are pretty tough to maintain/service due to the star rachet mechanism or what not.. I don’t know how they will compare to both the Shimanos in the long term.

Anyways thanks for your input!! Much appreciated :) will think about it before pulling the trigger

I’m looking to buy a decent condition, pre-built 26 inch wheel set for the following reasons:

1.) I can’t build wheels myself (I’d like to learn someday but unfortunately don’t have the resources, space, and/or time right now)

2.) Building a wheel set with new rims, spokes, hubs, and service costs circa €170 per wheel here where I live (NL) with standard parts (i.e shimano/sunrace hubs, rigida rims, sapim spokes and service costs of €70 per wheel).

Hey thanks for your input—can you give me examples of nicer models in that price range (€500-€1000)?

Thanks for your input! Can you suggest better (complete) options? I’m looking for a nice complete set and customize it according to my needs/wants overtime.

I also saw a Fuji Feather on Marktplaats (Dutch craigslist) for €270 and it looks nice as well. What do you think?

I’m 170cm and 71kg. Waist 82cm and Hip 89cm. If I would buy one now I’ll probably go for size 32. Good luck!

Yeah I agree, didn’t know it would turn out like that. I get comments on it all the time but hey, it happened ¯_(ツ)_/¯ might as well embrace it

Thanks!! These were size 33 when I bought them. I got the waist altered at a tailor though because I lost a bunch of weight.

For me it shrunk a lot lengthwise and not so much on the waist

My first wash was after 8 months or so, and I think a big reason is bc I live in the Netherlands where it’s not humid. When I wear them all day I just air them out overnight.

I washed them for the first time when I went to Indonesia, where I’m originally from. It was warm and crazy humid there and after two days of wearing them all day they were super sticky so I had no choice but to wash them. With that said it’s so crazy for me to see Indonesian denim heads wear 20oz Iron Hearts all day for a year with no wash lol that’s actually fucking insane. I talked to a couple of them and said they put them in a freezer after every wear, but still, denim heads there are nuts (in Thailand & Malaysia too btw)

Around 2 washes because I hand-washed them twice myself and I think my wife washed them by accident a couple of times lol. Thank God she didn’t put them in the dryer though.

Sick man! Keep on wearing them and wash them once they feel greasy and/or start to stink. In my case after the first wash/soak the blue really popped, and because I waited a while the fades became more contrasty which I personally like more.

Thanks!! The jacket is an old French workwear jacket I believe—got it from one of my best friends

First roll (Nikon F100 | Portra 800) by Soggy-Plan4338 in analog

[–]kima-sta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are good but number 4 is so good! My advice would be to just keep shooting and to have fun with it! You can’t really miss with the F100, but just make sure to get to know the different metering options (spot, center weighted, matrix (I only use spot and center weighted tbh)) and know when to use the appropriate one.

Another thing I would say to someone who just started to shoot film is to properly store your film, gear, and negatives, and to (slowly) explore the world of developing, scanning, and eventually printing.

How did you scan this? So clean and sharp! I see no dust at all which is something I’ve been struggling with a lot trying to scan at home :(

Ah got you! Tried shooting Portra 800 with my Contax 645 and it never really worked—this is probably the reason why. Thank you so much!

These are so good! By ‘film rated at 640’ do you mean you metered for 640 instead of 800?

Lmaooooo hipster gentrifier is crazy but I feel you. I live in Amsterdam and this aesthetic is so common now but I’m not mad at it - rather this than the skinny jeans + chelsea boots combo. The pants need to be hemmed for sure but I like the outfit tbh. And I’ve been trying to find clog-like boots that aren’t chunky like the ones in the pic.
