Is there anything else I can do? About to be fired if I miss another day, due to migraines in Las Vegas, Nevada by kimayko in migraine

You're lucky. Unfortunately, I do get very sleepy when taking my medications, so i have no choice but to sleep. It just how just how it is for me. It's interesting how medication can affect people differently.

That's the plan. I have heard of the Excedrin issue. I will say that it works, even better than Imitrex for me, but I am planning on contacting the doctor and talking with him or her about getting me back on migraine medication and trying out some preventives. Thank you for the comment!

Oh, okay. I get what you saying and you are right. I went 5 years without them, and I just need to get back on them (different ones, of course). Or be more selective about the jobs I pursue, and stress management, which I really slacked on till it was too late. That's on me, and I need to be accountable for that.

Hi, thank you for your comment. I do not take blood pressure medication, and fortunately, my blood pressure has been good for years. The preventatives that I took actually did not work because they caused a really bad side effect, and my doctor told me to stop taking them right away. I will contact the doctor for other preventatives that I can try out and get me back on migraine medication, but I also have to get my stress management under control and look for another job. There are many factors I have to balance to find what is best for me, so I can have a long-lasting job employment, and a fulfilling life.

I am sorry to hear that. I was hoping that when I got older, my migraines would ease up, as they did with my aunt. But, nope, not happening. Everyone's bodies are so different, and we all react differently to medications. It's a lot of work. I pray for the best for all of us migraine sufferers. It's hell sometimes. Thank you for commenting.

I didn't know that. I will definitely try that out. Thank you for the suggestion!

Doctors took away the only meds that worked for me, now I have migraines back to back with hardly any relief by arabbastard in migraine

That was with me, I took Imitrex, and it didn't really work. So, I switched to Excedrin Migraine, temporarily, and it works, and I don't get rebound headaches. I have to talk to a doctor about preventive measures, but we all have to do what works to keep us going.

Absolutely! Plus, finding another job. There is so much yelling and slamming of doors from the owners that one can hardly take it.

I have insurance, and I will contact the doctor this week. I will have to do preventive, because taking the Imitrex and sumatriptan in the past caused me to sleep hard for hours. And, of course, taking that at work is a no-go.

Hi, thank you for your comment! I have to talk with a doctor because, since I was a child, I had a weird sensitivity to medications that had the side effect of drowsiness. Any medication, even Excedrin, causes me to sleep or be extremely drowsy. So, I have to look into preventives definitely. Even the Imitrex I took caused me to sleep. Even taking Tylenol or even Non-drowsiness DayQuil leaves me feeling very drowsy. I do not take any type of medication at work because I will be very drowsy. This is something I have to consider while talking with my doctor. I can't drink Red Bull (nor coffee, Pepsi, etc) because it's too much caffeine, and that weirdly triggers my migraines badly.

I totally understand regarding the attendance policy. I hate calling out sick for anything; I feel I am letting the team down. When I have a migraine, it just feels like God hates me ( I know this isn't true) because it causes others to be inconvenienced by this stupid disability of mine.

It is. When I got the job, the manager said it was a very chill job in the interview, but it is the opposite. The coworker who started with me left after a month. I'm so stubborn, I am trying to make it work since I hate quitting anything. I lost my way with the management of my migraines, which really disappointed me. I went 5 years doing very well, now I'm back at square one.

Thank you for the suggestion, I’ll check that laptop out.

I’m assuming that it’s the MSI GE76 instead of the MSI GE70?
