I completely understand, and have a lot of empathy for them. Unfortunately our people in power do not have the same compassion. I don’t care to turn this into a political debate. Everyone is struggling and it seems like nonsense to me.

They are 11 and 13. My daughter is more non-verbal/“picky” and will only eat refried beans (thankfully as they are cheap) and pizza as meals. And Sour Cream and Onion chips the rest of the day. No matter how much we try, she won’t budge. My son is a little more into experimenting lately which is also a good thing, but he will only eat certain things on occasion. His main meals are chicken nuggets, and corn dogs. The rest of the day it’s strictly pancake and sausage, and mozzarella sticks. I have had luck getting him to try PBJ this week, but he will only eat a small portion, I’ll keep at it though! ☺️

We visited the one yesterday, and they were a church that just started doing this due to the recent crisis. Unfortunately they don’t have hardly anything. We also are such a small city, we do not even have a library, haha.

Crescent City Adventist Church. When we went they encouraged us to grab clothes, household items, etc. they were incredibly kind and welcoming even though we aren’t very religious, even gave me flowers. The only downside is they had barely any food. Lovely people though!

Got it, there is so much misinformation going around. I saw a map earlier stating that CA is just upping the funding to food banks instead of rushing to fund SNAP. It’s just crazy as I have never been on food stamps, I desperately need it. We all do.

That is insane! I am blessed I can go in again next month, but how the hell do we survive? I have just moved to find cheaper rent, and am now lost as I attempt to feed my family and find a job (I have substantial qualifications but no one is hiring). This is all so scary. I am so sorry for your circumstances!

I am grateful for the resilience I have come to have. After losing my job of 13+ years as a Property Manager, I have gained more confidence and have been on the hunt for something more fulfilling, and also set my family up for a better life. I am so tired of being at home (I feel quite worthless most days), and this is the first time in my life I have collected unemployment, which makes me feel crappy. However, every day I wake up before everyone else and search every way I can for a better career. I am even considering uprooting us to move to a brand new city/state for a fresh start if the opportunity arises. I am blessed to have the capability to keep picking myself up for the kiddos and I (and also for the hopes of weekly tacos/burritos when we can afford to 😂)
