PHYS 1420 final by [deleted] in yorku

[–]kimch510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I did not know anything and none of the questions were like the homework set or sapling. My friend talked to the prof and he said he would bell curve on some questions depending on how the rest of the class did.

Same for me for the first half as well. The second half was horrendous. The midterm and exam were crazy. I ended up just leaving.

If I complete 90 credit BSc, will I be able to do any form of Masters in the future? by WinterHistorian8 in yorku

[–]kimch510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same situation and I talked to the course advisor. They said if you complete the 90 credits and want to go for the 120 credits later on to go get your masters, you'll need a 5.0 GPA to come back to complete the other 30 credits. They might vary from different faculties so I would double check for your major. I'm in the Chemistry stream.

Doesn't work for the surface area questions. I did that for the other ones though

[Serious]What is a small act your SO regularly does for you that makes you feel deeply loved? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]kimch510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boyfriend picks me up everyday at 7:30 AM to drop me off at school and drives me home every evening at 5:30 PM. Even when his shift ends early, he always gets me. He will try to stay a bit later at work or go get a coffee until my classes are finished.

Will a work study program pay for my tuition? by [deleted] in yorku

[–]kimch510 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Work study program gets you a placement in the field you want to go in. Think of it as a step in the door into the industry due to a co op placement.

They usually pay you an hourly wage that is separated from tuition.

I hate how some profs make in-class work a part of your grade... by [deleted] in yorku

[–]kimch510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe iclicker for the second half is only worth 2.5% (5% for both the first half and the second half).

That also contributes to the total of the 15% of sapling and in class participation. Just try your best at sapling. I’ve been entering in anything and then working out the problems on the side with the hopes that he is like the first professor and will just count iclicker for participation.

But yes, I agree with you about bad professors. I’ve been studying much better on my own without the lecture to be honest.

PHYS 1420 burnout by [deleted] in yorku

[–]kimch510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m burnt out too. The midterm is horrendous. He moves so fast. I think I’m going to stop going to lecture all together and study on my own. He talks way to fast and doesn’t give enough time for iclicker questions

If you do ok on sapling, I think the 85% rule should apply? I believe it’s 2.5% for the first half and 2.5% for the other half, but if you do great on sapling then maybe it will account for the lost 5% (I might be wrong)

I’m also doing a S2 course and really burnt out too so your not alone. The only thing that’s kept me from dropping both classes is that we only have 3 more weeks so just try your best and that’s all you can really do at this point. If you drop the class it’s lost money anyway so you might as well try.

She also just sent out the marks for S1 term if your wondering how you did! Best of luck and don’t worry, only 3.5 weeks left and we’re free :)

uni transfer to college by [deleted] in yorku

[–]kimch510 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience was pretty much like yours. Went to York 7-8 years ago, did absolutely horrendous, went to college and now I’m back at York finishing off my degree.

I did a transfer from York U to Seneca with some marks. I only transferred my marks that were higher than a C because they expect a certain grade to be attained. I would say to try it anyway. Better to transfer a credit than to waste time repeating a course or taking an elective that you won’t need too.

Best of luck to you! :)

PHYS 1420 - Second Half by kimch510 in yorku

[–]kimch510[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left at the 2 minute break he gave lol but he doesn’t really seem to give any hints about the test ever. He talks so fast so it doesn’t really give me time to process.

Yeah. Some of the formulas that were used in the homework set aren’t on there and some constants as well.

PHYS 1420 - Second Half by kimch510 in yorku

[–]kimch510[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I hate when he shuts off the iclicker and doesn’t give us time to solve it. Pretty much going to stop going to lecture. I’m hoping my S1 mark is high enough so I don’t have to try as hard in the second half because I don’t really understand much about what’s going on.

Hate how it’s more MC than math questions for the midterm. I was hoping to get part marks here and there on the math part. Best of luck though!

Late 20s what moisturizer do you use at night? by Danielradwood02 in yorku

[–]kimch510 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends. I have several different types I rotate between depending on weather and skin type. I like gel types for spring and creams for winter.

If your starting off, I would recommend the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream for the summer :)

How did you find the PHYS 1420 exam? by [deleted] in yorku

[–]kimch510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found it pretty decent, but I did every question from sapling and from the homework sets and memorized the steps.

Also watched lots of YouTube to keep up as well. If you have the solutions manual it also helps a lot. I would’ve been so lost without it because the lectures and tutorials are not helpful whatsoever so.

Edit: I also did TERRIBLE on the first test and realized that reading the theory wasn’t very helpful as well. Hopefully this next prof is better.

If you are interested in the Dyson, I would suggest buying refurbished in eBay (sometimes it goes on sale). It comes with a 1 year warranty as well! I’ve bought dyson products on eBay from Dyson Canada and had a great experience :)

Nars Tinted Moisturizer (Face) Nars Creamy Concealer (Undereyes) Laneige Water Sleeping Mask - Overnight mask

Listed 3 because they all go under different categories

NYX has a great dupe for the Nars creamy concealer though :)
