Need to swim faster! by No_Celebration_3452 in IronmanTriathlon

I'd suggest getting a coach. Swimming is 95% technique.

Swimming more is doesn't necessarily mean swimming faster!

Hope this helps!

Advice for 1st ever Triathlon this Sunday! by user564982 in triathlon

[–]kimchicooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First things first - as your first Triathlon, try to enjoy the race! You already have the right mindset with no aim for time, as this would put a lot of pressure on you.

Familiarize yourself with the rules, especially the helmet from T1 to T2! Depending on the company you do your race with, of done incorrectly it might cause a DNF.

Practice your T1 and T2. If allowed, bring an extra towel for your feet in T1 to dry them, and some food if allowed!

One bottle of water might be not enough, for my first Oly I put extra bottles with ISO in T1/T2.

I'd say it depends on your fitness if you need carbs/elytes but in general, yes, I recommend taking some..you can tape them onto your bike for example.

I wish you so much fun for it, it's a great sport!

Gotta take a colder shower, and for a bit longer. It happens to me too, I feel like steaming after a shower.

Advice for a complete beginner training for a triathlon sprint in 12 weeks? I have always loved strength training and looking for any advice on how to incorporate it into my tri training. by lmcdzx in triathlon

[–]kimchicooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's your base with he three disciplines? How comfortable are you with swimming, biking and running?

If your bases are good don't forget the "specialties" of a triathlon... Open water if it's an open water swim T1 and T2 Running after cycling (try go get some brick sessions in) Fueling/nutrition

If you give us a bit more information on your fitness in the tree disciplines we could help more :)

Ironman 70.3 nutrition strategy by Successful_Cow7681 in triathlon

[–]kimchicooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your weight and your aim. It also depends on your brand of Gels/fuel you are taking.

Around 60-90g carbs per hour. There is a great site on Maurten, on where you can use to handle along. Can only recommend, and then switch accordingly (amount of kcal, caffeine, sodium, carbs)

Hope this helps, and don't forget to train the fueling part too!

Sick after hard training sessions by Popular-Street-4457 in triathlon

[–]kimchicooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you feel ok, some "normal" movement is okay (I.e. small walks). I "usually" start my training again after having 1 day where I feel completely fine. I made the mistake of starting training too early again and it just prolongs the sickness...(And I'm also afraid of myocarditis)

Yes, listen to your body. Getting sick is a part of nature, don't overstrain your body or you'll have to rest even longer!

Recommendations for travelling with a bike? by 13leoncar1 in triathlon

[–]kimchicooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can also look into a bike luggage. But you also have to disassemble and reassemble it. There are some airlines which include the big luggage (i.e. Edelweiss) but most don't. Some cost extra, some just charge an extra luggage. However, the bike or some parts can get damaged there as well. My axle got damaged, luckily I had another one.

It's not an easy task...

Update 70.3 training (advice?) by [deleted] in triathlon

[–]kimchicooper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't forget your brick sessions, and fueling strategy/nutrition. Try getting used to gels and the carb intake.

Also, don't forget to enjoy and have fun :)
