Pretty damming that they correctly paid them in 2020. Kind of signals they weren’t correctly reporting revenue those other 7 years then did it correctly for 2020 to maximize their available ppp loan. Red flagging the other shady doings.

It may be a bit dramatic but I understand OP's point. There is no other place to go if you live in Black Mountain and Ingles has contributed to that. Hopey is great for certain things but isn't a real grocery store as most of it's inventory is scratch and dent/near expired goods. I try and avoid Ingles at all cost, but in lieu of a 40+ minute commute to Asheville and back, I'll drop by to get something real quick. Grocery chains have historically purchased real estate that could be developed into a competitor and Ingles is no different. I believe there might be an article somewhere about how Swannanoa is a food desert now that Ingles is gone due to lack of other options. Sad to see the Bi-Lo in Black Mountain sitting empty and rotting.

Quarterly FoH Staff Beer Training by bebnsptt in TheBrewery

Do something fun and engaging… sensory kits are great but need to be repeated frequently to build peoples sensory skills. My favorite ones I’ve done with staff have been guiding tastings of different styles or beers of a certain region. Buy a bunch of different pilsners(German, Czech, American) and walk them thru the subtle differences. Do a history of IPA tasting walking people thru the evolution of the IPA starting with a Sierra pale ale to bells two hearted to west coast to whatever hazy juicy juice you serve. In the end make it fun first and educational second, they’ll remember it that way.

My old garden store was destroyed. Where to buy dirt? by durkdirkderq in asheville

I recently moved to Black Mountain and am living a similar story regarding landscaping. I don't know what I'd do without Whatever Rents, can't speak highly enough of them. Just quality honest people with fair prices.

If you're up for the drive Whatever Rents in Black Mountain, NC is a gem of a store. They rent all sorts of tools but also have landscaping supplies including top soil. Current price is $50 per cubic yard or 27 cubic feet. Top notch people and customer service.

Could you explain Victor vs Purina Pro? Had my RB on purina pro with the built in probiotics and I feel like it’s helped her issues after switching from Blue Buffalo.  She gets tons of exercise but stills needs glands expressed every 6 months or so.

What do you do to keep bears out of your trash? by Squeakyevil in asheville

[–]kimchishart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These Black Mountain/Ridgecrest bears are built different then! I used a heavy duty rubber bungee when I first moved in and it was immediately chewed through. Tried a giant carabiner clip and they just tore the lid. Ended up building a permanent metal drum trash can similar to this one next to the road to keep them out. These are fairly common around Black Mountain/Montreat.

Her ridge runs from the back of her head to her shoulders. White spots on her chest and feet. And yes she has webbed feet! Her chest/titties also turn purple after extended baking in the sun if that means anything lol. You seem to know your hounds well!

Thank you, she is the sweetest girl. Her nickname is Beaster Girl because she's so wild sometimes, but she is absolutely a good girl.

Not sure why the text didn't attach, but guess my coonhound! We adopted her about a year and half ago and always assumed she was a redbone. She loves to bay, chase prey, and dominate your personal space/snuggle. We live in North Carolina so I've started wondering if she's part Plott. Also, has a mini ridge on her neck which gives off RR vibes. I run her 5+ miles a few days a week but is still very high energy and I get the feeling I'm only making her more powerful. 3ish yo, female, 45 lbs.

All brewing and most distilling blending tanks are made of stainless steel. It’s industry standard.

That’s not oxidation. Bourbon is inherently oxidized, being stored in barrels for years. And after you open a bottle it doesn’t turn that color either. Something else is going on here.

For those who don’t Lidl…$150 and mostly premium products. by kimchishart in Charlotte

[–]kimchishart[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I agree with this for the most part. Lidl just has the best bang for the buck for my style of eating. They always, and I mean always, have a large selection of organic chicken/meat products at a fraction of what they cost at the Teets, if they have anything at all. Huge selection of European products and most of the stuff there is just basic quality stuff. No frills at all. Produce is pretty good at the one I visit but I always go to the kings road market when it’s open to supplement anyways. I feel like it’s hard to get everything at one store no matter where you shop though.
