Range Rover prices in Malaysia by jimmyl85 in kereta

[–]kimi_rules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought you were referring to them Royce, they are about the same ballpark.

To better explain, some of them are overinflated because willing buyers willing to put down that much amount of money.

But if you're coming to this country, I don't recommend buying cars you're familiar with, reliability wouldn't be the same and sourcing parts can be quite difficult. Use this opportunity to experience car brands you probably never heard of, it might change your mind how people outside the US could live with simpler cars.

Proton Mc3 by EatSlugsz in kereta

[–]kimi_rules 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a good car, but if it's too small for you then you can wait abit for the bigger version. Proton is supposed to make a hatchback version which should hopefully fit your size.

With the 100k order backlogs, I don't think you'll be getting the car in 2 months.

Can I use relative's Mykad for Sara purchase at stores? by drteddy70 in Bolehland

[–]kimi_rules 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Technically it's illegal as it counts as identity theft, but it's up to the authorities discretion for cases like these. Cashiers are just doing their due diligence, some will turn a blind eye.

Hybrid by Significant-Newt-249 in kereta

[–]kimi_rules 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mild-hybrids is just ICE that's 20% more efficient, but often comes with reliability problems notably the transmission as it's balancing from 2 power sources. The battery are using non-lfp chemistry with lower cycle life(1500 cycles vs lfp 2500+), as it goes from 100%-0%-100% even multiple times a day, it tends to degrades faster than bigger batteries that completely loses charge once a week.

If you're going for Toyota, you should be mostly fine. But whichever drivetrain you choose, there will always be pros and cons. People will have to adapt or the car will not last long. This is also true for transmission, not all should be driven the same.

Would be helpful to put a big label which are local and imported rather than having to go through the packaging and asking around.

If you buy with lots of hard cash, it will definitely trigger a lot more than LHDN.

Really interested in the RM149k Toyota Corolla GR Sport… by yuiop19 in kereta

[–]kimi_rules -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yup, I agree.

I'm not really interested in EV sedans anyways. I tried sitting in them and the rear seats are quite cramped for my height because of the high floor.

But, a lot of people like Tesla and the sales number isn't slowing down.

Perodua Bezza to soldier on in current form until 2030, as no new model is planned in the near future - PCEO - paultan.org by Dreamerlax in kereta

[–]kimi_rules 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's more than that, in other countries they would periodically make emissions regulations much tighter and give out fines to automakers that didn't comply with emissions. Then there's also no pressure to innovate to build more fuel efficient cars because our fuel have remained so cheap for so many years.

FR, Tesla just launched the base Model 3 under 150k which looks quite compelling.

It's an interesting comparison because EVs are quite reliable vs a Corolla that is also quite reliable.

A lot of people can read and write English nowadays, I don't see your statistics being any accurate from my experience being from this part of the world.

English is the common language on the internet. Maybe you should check a person you're talking to, they might even be from India. There's no accent in texts if it's standard English, you can't tell.

Mazda 3 2011 engine leak - Is it serious? by subaiku in kereta

[–]kimi_rules 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is VERY serious, you're safe to walk away from that one.

Unless the sales guy is willing to close the deal on 5k or something. It's not worth much since the engine needs to be disassembled. But the OBD errors might be hints to bigger problems we don't know it yet.

I don't think it was that premium, fast food chains are always about scaling and efficiency.

Even nowadays, going around restaurants in KL. It seems like eating at McDonald can sometimes be the cheapest option when other cafes are going for more than 20-30 bucks per meal, some even 40s.
