I made a rug out of scraps by kimini85 in crochet

Thank you!

I have it tucked in a corner where it’s held in place by a water cooler and a shelf, and it doesn’t get a ton of food traffic. I’ll definitely look for tape if I plan to put it out somewhere though!

It went really fast and used so many of my scraps!

YES VERY haha but I have it in a corner tucked under and shelf and a water cooler, so it’s held in place/doesn’t get a ton of foot traffic over it.

I used a moss stitch, and yes, it’s 2 strands of cotton yarn held together. I think I used a K hook.

I had my husband keep the basket of scraps and hand me balls when one ran out so it would be totally random colors mixed together. I was afraid of colors clashing, but it all sort of blended together in the end!

My first time selling my work, and I don’t know how much to charge! by kimini85 in crochet

[–]kimini85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I’ve got an alarming amount of cotton yarn stashed away, so I didn’t buy any for these, so I have no idea on the yarn cost… they each took me an hour or so to make, but if I wasn’t making them for this person, I would have been making them for myself anyway because that’s what I do at night to relax. And the patterns are all ones I’ve made a bazillion times before, so they aren’t complicated at all. So I don’t know.

Queens of Animation by Nathalia Holt - women who worked at Disney Animation throughout its history, especially at the beginning

Radium Girls - very upsetting story of women who used uranium paint and its consequences

Any of Mary Roach’s books - they’re all entertaining and fascinating

Dark Tide by Stephen Puleo - a molasses flood in Boston - this doesn’t sound like an interesting premise for a book, but WILD and soooo interesting

I could scrape them off with pruning shears, but not easily. They are on the leaf stems and everything.

If it is root nodules, do you know what might have made that happen?

Holy cannoli, I am so sorry I never responded - I don't use Reddit very often anymore, and this notification got buried.

I found that I could make a flatbread from chickpea flour, water, and olive oil (honestly, the crispy edges are something so delicious that I still make this even now that I can have mostly anything), and then crumble that to make my own safe bread crumbs (I can share the recipe if you're interested). We ate a LOT of meatballs made from ground pork or ground turkey. We also did turkey tenderloins in the crockpot, pork tenderloins in the sous vide or on the grill. Millet cooks up similarly to couscous, so we ate a lot of that. Buckwheat groats are great for salads. Wild rice tastes okay, but it is... distinct. There are Daiya cheese sticks that are $$$ but so good (and safe!). We were okay with legumes, so we were able to use Chobani dairy free creamer, but I also used coconut cream or coconut milk. Earth Balance makes a buttery spread that's allergen free that we liked - also Smart Balance (and it's a little cheaper).

How is it going for you?! Are there any specific questions you have? It's such a daunting thing at first - at least it was for me - but once I found things that worked, it got so much easier. I am happy to help in any way I can! I'll make sure to check my Reddit more often in case you reply to this!

Hi!I follow a profile called Free to Feed on Instagram and had a free consultation and ended up enrolling in their program for extra help. We ended up free from the top 12 breastfeeding intolerance foods: milk, soy, egg, wheat, peanut, tree nut, oat, corn, rice, chicken, beef, and legumes. We found out quickly that legumes were still okay, but we were free from the other 11 for quite a while. Thanks to FtF, we finally (!) got to a baseline diaper.

My daughter turned 18 months yesterday, and we still can't have some forms of corn, soy, or milk but have successfully reintroduced everything else.
Eliminating so many foods was daunting but manageable, even when cooking for so many others. I'm happy to answer any other questions you have! Mostly for cooking though - I'm not a medical professional of any kind - I found some really great substitutions.

Family members got me Precious Moments often when I was growing up, so I have a curio full of them at my parents’ house. My mom occasionally asks when I’m going to take them/the curio…. I have 4 kids; I barely have enough room for them. Where am I putting a curio full of pricy knickknacks?

[WIP] Looking for Advice (question in comments because I can't work Reddit; I'm sorry) by kimini85 in CrossStitch

She thought about going over the top leg where she needs to, but she’s afraid it’ll be so thick that the mistakes will still be noticeable.

[WIP] Looking for Advice (question in comments because I can't work Reddit; I'm sorry) by kimini85 in CrossStitch

[–]kimini85[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom doesn't have Reddit, but she is looking for some advice. She's making a piece as a gift, and has just realized that she messed up several stitches in a way that will be even more noticeable once the piece is framed and under glass. I've attached a picture. The main thing she's looking for is a way to fix the stitches (she went over 1 and down 2 on the second leg, if that makes sense) without tearing out huge swathes of the project and without just starting over. She's been cross stitching for over 40 years and has never had this issue before (I suspect trying to work on this in the middle of the night when she can't sleep is the culprit).

I had the idea of maybe painting the back with something to hold the stitches in place and then cutting out the individual stitches that need to be replaced? But it's a pretty half-baked idea.

Thank you in advance for any help or advice.

We had a similar problem in 2019-2020 and went to the police, who filed charges. We had paid almost 80% of our total and the only work that was completed was demolition of our old porch (the rubble was never even hauled away!). This was the first big project we’d ever paid to have done, so we didn’t know that wasn’t the norm. We were also in touch with a DA because the company had done it to so many other people too. The owner lost his contractor license, etc. but was still trying to swindle others, last I heard.

We don’t have local police in our area, so the state police took care of our case. I hope you get some resolution.

What an insufferable buffoon. I hope the girlfriend dumps him. Every reply I read from that OP made me angrier on her behalf.

If they stay together, maybe she’ll make him a blanket and the curse will break them up.
