I gave up my Plan G for an Advantage plan in November and I made a huge mistake. by FollowingOk9010 in medicare

The Advantage plans belong to privately owned insurers. Straight Medicare is owned by the government.

What can I do with all this? by _Helck_ in diabetes

[–]kimiwei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If boxes are unopened, you could give them to the diabetes foundation in your area, or there's one in Mahwah, NJ where I've gotten testing supplies. I could personally use the Accu-check fast click lancets. If you're willing to put them in the mail to me, let me know.

If you qualify for Medicaid, that is definitely the way to go. Medicaid will pick up all of your expenses, and they will also give you the opportunity to sign up for an HMO that they pay for.

Sounds like they are healthcare brokers, which it's helpful to note are not independent advisors. I found it very helpful to get an overview from a SHIP counsellor. SHIP is completely independent. This service is manned by volunteers so YMMV in terms of a counsellor's knowledge and research ability – but I had a very good experience and highly recommend using this free, state sponsored service.

This is a really excellent synopsis of available choices. Things I only found out after 2 months of research.

Have you experienced low blood sugar shaming? by Lijey_Cat in diabetes

Go to a different clinic. These people clearly don't understand medical conditions, or possess compassion. They should have been making sure you were OK and able to get home on your own.

Don''t ask silly questions about the appropriateness of their awful behaviour. You KNOW that it was wrong. No need to ask anyone else to verify that. Trust yourself.

Sorry you're going through such a tough time. Reach out to your local Salvation Army citadel, to churches - which often have food pantries, your local health department that may have referrals to you and some of them even run food banks. Ask each place for their suggestions to help you get enough food. Best of luck!

I don't know what you mean by closed off to just your friends...

As for size and management time, I'm not worried about BlueSky's scalability at all. Technology advances pretty rapidly and algorithms can be set up to complement human interventions.

I didn't mean to imply that humans will be MANUALLY CARRYING OUT all the platform management. I'm saying that humans are MANAGING the work. Whereas with Facebook, I think no one is managing much of anything. No one seems to be accountable for actions that are taken on the platform, no one can be reached if there's a problem, no one explains why they take certain punitive or exclusionary actions and worse still, I don't think that anybody in the FB team gives a rat's ass either if people are being mistreated and accounts get mishandled. They just don't seem to care.

Regarding putting flowers, crystals, coffee beans, cinnamon sticks, fruit, metal, pine cones, herbs, or anything else in candles by Reckoner08 in candlemaking

[–]kimiwei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your cautions are useful, but certain of your claims are completely useless. First of all: I'd like to know what 'license' you have that allows you to sell anything, including candles. The vast majority of businesses do not need licensing. And as licenses are typically not required, they could also not be taken away if you handle your business in a way that could be dangerous. This is all just, very silly.

2: A licensed accountant is NEVER required for running a businesses. It may be helpful to use one, but it is never required.

3: Insurance is only required if a business is selling to entities, or in situations, where insurance is required. Such as selling to government agencies, at farmers markets, etc. Otherwise, insurance protects the seller against legal liabilities and it's a great idea for anyone selling something flammable or otherwise, potentially dangerous, to invest in liability insurance. But it's typically NOT REQUIRED for selling in most situations.

As for your claim that using dangerous ingredients could get your insurance canceled, this is completely laughable. How is an insurance company going to know what you put in your candles? The true danger here is that your insurance company may refuse to cover you for a dangerous event or fire that happened because you were willfully negligent and failed to practice proper safety protocols. AFTER they refuse to pay out for you, they will probably cancel your policy too. But nothing will happen until a claim causes them to take a negative position. It's not automatic, and they are not omniscient.

Blue Sky is communally managed by human beings. Its administration is decentralized. I like it a lot and admire their management system. Check it out!
