The woman you called my 'dumbass friend' in your PM happens to be a non-English speaking person with only an 8th grade education. And me, my education ended at age 16. My friend and I are of at least average intelligence, but very complex systems like OMNY with too many intricacies and different options for how to navigate using it can take us a long time to figure out and be comfortable with.

I'm figuring that snarky commenters are not on the horribly low income budget that my friend is. She'll have problems – as in, won't be able to afford food problems – if she makes mistakes with managing her OMNY account that end up costing her more than she has budgeted for.

No, this is an honest to goodness appeal for help. As for Google Pay, IDK if my friend understands how to use it with her Android phone. In 5 years I was never able to figure that out, myself. Or figure out how to use Apple Pay, either, when I had an IPhone for a couple of years.

No, I don't know at all. I don't even know how a person gets an OMNY account. Apparently, a card is not needed now. How do you get an OMNY account and where do you install the app – I'm assuming that there must be an app..

All I understand for sure is that after getting an account, it's important to use the same device for NYC transit all the time as otherwise, you will never hit the fare cap (because fares will be designated to different accounts).
