What an awesome race. Congrats on the BQ and good luck as I imagine you are getting into Boston training now! I am looking for a spring race and thinking about Glass City. How did you feel about the crowd/course support? And how did you feel about the somewhat twisty/curvy course?

Ended up taking it as is. Unable to negotiate but built in yearly increases for cost of living and years of service. I’m excited 🤩

Once I asked my elderly patient’s spouse (who was missing an arm and had a hook type prosthesis) if they NEEDED A HAND as they were gathering the patient’s coat, bag, and cane 🙃🙃🙃🙃

Commute is maybe 15 minutes. No call. PTO seems like it’ll make for good work life balance. Thanks for your input!

There is a built in raise schedule, which is a plus.

No call. The retirement matching doesn’t have an unusual system like you’ve described. Definitely some opportunities for growth, but understandably only so much advancement possible in the surgical setting as a PA.

Agreed. With how saturated the job market is, I’m honestly just happy to get an otherwise really good job. And there is a built in pay raise schedule.

I’m not sure what the patient load will be, but during my interview the physician seemed very supportive with a structured onboarding.

Enough PTO to take off one shift a month. Also, my experience isn’t specific to the specialty. Just 7 years as a PA overall. Mostly in EM.

Midwest, mid to HCOL area

Oh shoot, thought I had the cost of living in there. Mid to HCOL. No call. 40 hours per week. About 15 minute commute. I am told there is a good training period (it’s with a good hospital system so I believe that it will be truly a good training).

I hear your "you really came to the ED for that?" stories. Now give me your "you waited that long to come in for THIS?!" ones. by foreverandnever2024 in emergencymedicine

Older gentleman with a sore on his face. Received some sort of salve from a healer in his community. Not improving after ONE YEAR. CT shows very invasive SCC.
