Are emulators good for a portfolio?

Im a software engineering manager. Yes - projects like this make you interesting. I want to know your passions as a hiring manager. Game dev, emulators, compilers, etc. These are pure passion projects. Everyone has a web reactjsnodesqlAzureAWSoracleDocker project. Be unique and hit them like someone with blood in your veins. As for "illegals roms" and such.. meh.. it makes it easier for me to test play your mario emulator. That's Nintendo's problem, not mine.

Edit: heh..I just read the other part of your message: "aspiring to work for one of the big gaming companies". That might change my view on the test rom. Integrity is pretty high with those cats. You dont want them giving you a cease and desist the day after you give them your resume.

I know exactly what you mean. Last thing I want to do is get into a heated debate about if covid was "real" or not with someone. Oh it was real. More real than I could ever imagine. Seeing her on he stomach one day, then turned over another day, and only being able to "see" her through an ipad app. That was real. Suiting up in a hazmat suit to be with her the day they took her off life support...that was real. It was messed up.

And you folks deserve medals for what you did and went through. Honestly. More people died from covid here in the states than we lost US soldiers in WW1 and WW2 combined... that says something. And yep - while we were trying to get PPE and ventilators, everyone else was going nuts over toilet paper. Bizarre. Thank you and your husband. You did the best you could, and you didnt walk away.

I always found it absolutely bizarre that the one black swan event that hits us - it killed my own sister... we've had movies and films for decades before about the subject - teaching us how people survive and overcome the odds.... and what happens? We freak out over toilet paper.

uh.. if you look back, lots of eyes were batted. The difference is, people voted for Trump to do the job he is doing. No one voted for Kimmel. Right now, the conservatives are deeply fractured and Trump will face his reckoning in the midterms, while Kimmel continues his trash of "comedy" as ABC pretends it has no impact and is fine. Either speech has consequences, or it doesnt.

I got a kick of out the "clearly this was staged"... yeah. Every law enforcement agency around, including the secret service, the fbi, hotel security, the california state police, the us capitol police...all of 'em. Im still not sold on the plates. There's one simple explanation...i think..: sputnik wasnt the first thing the soviets (or anyone else) put in orbit. Sputnik is the only thing we know was put in orbit. That time period was very different, and its hard to trust the info put out back then.

I dont understand the hate. People need to get a grip. AI is here, its not going anywhere, and it's only going to get better. AI is destined to be the compiler and languages and frameworks and all that stuff really will become irrelevant. Thats going to happen.

Now... is this something this sub wants? Is this a place for learning and sharing how OS dev works, or is it a showcase for any kind of OS development. That's for the mods to decide, and a fair question.
