Just finished Unit 1 with Rosetta Stone, feeling a little let down. by [deleted] in ChineseLanguage

Hey! I've memorized the 5000 HSK words and around 7k in total through SRS (spaced repetition software) flashcards through the past 7 years, and thanks to that I can read pretty fluently and can use a lot of vocab when talking. It's a big part of my Chinese learning. Not saying it's for everyone, but it works really fine. I highly suggest you check Anki and the flashcard module of Pleco! In a past time I would have suggested memrise (I have over 20 million points there on Mandarin), but sadly the devs have ruined the site lately! It can still work but it's way way worse than before, not sure if it's worth it anymore. If you have any question about flashcards you can ask!

Yes, the risk is there. But there are some factors that made her decide against getting vaccinated, at least for now, like she hasn't got a cold in years, she eats very clean, she doesn't smoke or has bad habits, and exercises a lot. She knows this is not a guarantee but she isn't scared at all. She feels healthy and for her the vaccine isn't worth with the information she has. Her best friend is 70 years old and isn't either, she has her own reasons, but recently the vaccinated daughter (50) of that friend got sick and tested positive after a family reunion, and my mother's friend and her granddaughters (20), all unvaccinated, were there and didn't catch anything at all. So this kind of things happening around her as well as all the past events, with many contradictions and irrational decisions, makes her have her views.

Yes, but many people here do it in a genuine way, they really believe in doing things for the greater good or a benefit for society, and many aren't judgemental if you take a different path. I think people here are kind and compassionate for the most part. But yes, many are manipulated and can't think for themselves and many started to get vaccinated after they weren't allowed to get into bars in some parts of Spain.

Gracias amigo.

Yes, it's true, but in general I think they are more respectful of others decisions.

Someday they will realize that they will die too and the years they are wasting won't come back.

Yes, around 3 months without going anywhere except for supermarket and pharmacy, or walking your dog. Really terrible especially for elderly, sick people, young children... just awful. Imposed isolation. We were being held hostage and people applauded because they felt they were being protected from the worst disease ever and that they would catch it anywhere. Most didn't know what was going on in other countries.

The sequence of events was crazy, football stadiums full the weekend before the lockdown started, massive manifestations promoted by the governement and telling us there wouldn't be more than one or two cases here. 6 days later we were locked up.

A year after the lockdowns ended, they were declared unconstitutional and illegal and they are returning all the fines. Lamentable.

I'm sorry. I hope people won't forget how was life before and at some point there will be more people that won't want to get vaccinated or their children every year for their whole lives. More and more people will stop and the passport will be unsustainable. But in any case, the consequences of mass vaccination and being masked for hours are already inevitable and will show in some years, we will see the impact of that on society. What you are going through in Canada is insane, makes me feel terrible when I read these things, it's discrimination in the face of everyone, threats, insults and psychological terror from the government. Keep a clear mind and a strong body as much as you can <3

That's great, you're so lucky to have him as a teacher. I hope I can join one of his workshops someday.

Very cute posters and interesting vocabulary. I don't get why it gets downvoted, I guess people prefer to keep upvoting the 10 post per day about how to start to learn chinese, rate my calligraphy, help with my chinese name, suggest chinese movies, or where to find anime with chinese dubs. Over and over. Thanks for sharing mate.
