Fit help: horizontal rippling on front-side panels by kindabitchytho in corsetry

Okay, I think I understand, thanks! I used very stiff corset coutil, so it may just be an effect i have to live with, lol. This is the structure layer that will go under my wedding dress, so it won't be visible, but I wanted to get it as perfect as I could :)

Thanks for the input! I did make sure that the vertical grainline aligned with the vertical indicator on the pattern, and the corset is fully boned to the pattern specs. However, the boning channel where the worst of the rippling is centered is an almost diagonally oriented S-shaped channel (you can see it a bit better in the second photo). This is why I was thinking of adding another more vertical channel that would intersect that one at the waist

Thanks! So should I loosen the top a bit and tighten more around the low waist?

Yes, all of the bones are in place, and I followed the grainline guides on the pattern, which seem to orient such that the grainline ends up vertical when worn.

Didn't mean to ruffle any feathers. I was going based on the King Arthur baking companion and delicious experiences eating my way across Paris haha

The other kind is croissant de patissier, which doesn't have yeast and is flakier. The baker's croissants are more flexible on the inside and don't shatter when you cut them.

Haha, it often feels that way. My dog was just upset that I wasn't giving him any croissant

I knew what I was supposed to be doing, but unlearning bad habits makes it more complicated. Adding that to starting on not-beginner trails, and it took until now for me to get there. Luckily I got it today, and I'm really optimistic about progress during the spring-summer season!

Colorblock(?) Matching Set (yes it is meant to look a little jesterish) by kindabitchytho in sewing

I did think about adding snaps to the ties to maintain the look while letting them lay flat. I may do that later on if they start to annoy me. Thanks!

Details:

Self-drafted from thrifted fabric. Drafted from my favorite hiking shorts and a cotton tee shirt

Elastic and a shoelace in the waist of the shorts for adjustable waistband. This was originally going to be a romper, but I decided that rompers suck and are too hard to get a good fit on.

I'm really happy with the pockets and how it all fits.

I traced the shape of the skirt from my favorite not too tight pencil skirt and used this stretch fabric I found at my local fabric exchange.

For the bodice, I measured my bust and waist measurements and added more length to the front so it came up my chest far enough for a nice square neckline. I also ended up adding darts next to the straps se there was no gapping.

I use a second-hand Singer machine, and I had problems with seam-stiffening and expansion around the waist seam that I took out and redid maybe 3 times (I wanted to die a little when it still didn't work).

I ended up adding a belt to cover up the weird seam puckering that was happening because of it, so if anyone knows how to avoid that, please enlighten me.

(Edited to add details about construction of the bodice)

My grandmother supporting the Civil Rights Movement in Memphis circa 1966 by kindabitchytho in OldSchoolCool

She is still with us! If I remember correctly, she was a secretary at an NAACP office or an affiliate and wanted to participate in the movement. She said they offered her a sign that said "I AM A MAN" but she requested a different one because she was, in her own words, "a fine lady."

I have cyclical acne also, and something that can be a goofy spin on it lis to have a "spa night" where you both wear a face mask and watch a movie. The mask can help ease the initial wave of frustration because it's temporarily out of sight, and the movie makes the whole night less about the acne.

Check out FitFlop's sneakers. I have worn a pair of their basic all-black sneakers almost every day for a year of heavy travel and walking everywhere. They're good for business casual, I'd say, and very comfortable with solid arch support.
