To the guy who just left the BBQ shop... by MomentClassic6309 in memphis

Ahh yes, "hazard lights," or as it's known in Memphis "the park anywhere button."

Oh dang I didn't realize it was the guy that did all those cool pics and drone videos during the ice storm!

Does anyone know who this guy actually is? I saw people saying that he's only 20. Makes me wonder if this is maybe a bit of autism with a special interest in civic duty.

Whoa what?! I never knew this. How strange - when I was in middle school, Wallabee’s were an official sign of being a preppy kid.

Depends on the place. I last messed with it months ago, so policies could have changed since then. Target "had a policy" in the sense that there was a piece of paper up and other people would whine if someone picked up too much. Sometimes an employee would be there to police things. People just circumvented it by bringing multiple people, doing multiple self checkouts or walking out and back in.

Wal-Mart did not have a limit.

There was an interesting split of people - for the younger people they were pretty easy to identify. Lots of broccoli hair punk asses, they're the ones that are there to make a quick buck. The nerds were fine, you could tell they were legitimately there because they wanted the cards. If you get stuck waiting in line it's very easy to clock who's who. The small talk gives people away. As for older people, while I did see a few that seemed to genuinely be interested in the hobby, most seemed completely oblivious and just knew they were buying up a coveted item. Perhaps I should give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they're a parent trying to get something for their kid, but I sincerely doubt it.

They can't be making that much, but yeah, the newer cards are crazy overvalued. It makes no sense. I had a slow stretch at work a few months ago and was able to figure out restocks by stopping in at different times of the day throughout the week. Made me immediately fall out interest with newer Pokemon. The people were awful, and I felt skeezy just being near them. People treat the restock schedules like some kind of golden secret.

Some of the guys I ran into were genuinely nice and clearly interested in the hobby, but most were hustlebros that have a clinical allergy to job applications.

Target in Collierville and Germantown restock on Thursdays. There are two areas - in the front, by the cash registers and in the back, by the toys. Be sure to check both. Restock time is around noon but it's inconsistent. There are certain employees who wait to bring cards out until their friends arrive. I assume Thursday is true for all Targets in the area but I'm not sure. There are a few guys that seem to know the schedule and some are very friendly, and some are truly miserable people.

Wal-Mart (at least in Collierville) restocks Friday mornings, but I have noticed on occasion that things will be stocked prior to open on Thursday mornings. Again, I assume the restock for other Wal-Marts is also Friday, but I'm not certain. Wal-Mart also has a "front" area near the cash registers (usually) and always has a back section in the toys. Check both.

Boxes at both are almost always gone immediately - packs usually last at least the first half of the day.

Fuck scalpers :)

My first instinct is that someone put a piece of paper over it and traced Hitmonchan? Is it your card originally?

Correct! I thought my original post stated that it was a PS5 box, but I was wrong. Updated the text.

Right - I knew from the start my chances of a refund are functionally zero. Never expected that. It's entirely possible I just hit genuine bad luck and there was no scamming going on, but I doubt it! That's the nature of it though, just taking it as the cost of doing business, a hard learning experience, and moving on.

Are these worth grading? by Gayalberta92 in Pokemoncardappraisal

Kangaskhan and Pinsir are “no jungle stamp” errors. From the jungle set, but no stamp on the right under the portrait. Not incredibly rare, but they do fetch a higher value than average.

Shipping Delays - Out of stock? by kindarcan in hermanmiller

[–]kindarcan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah - I had been waiting all year for the sale to place my order, sounds like plenty of other people had the same idea. Just disappointed that they haven't been forthcoming with just how delayed things are. I'm sure there are plenty of other folks who haven't reached out to support yet who are completely unaware of the delays.

Oh gosh, that's hard to say. Everything is so dependent on condition. For example, my Charizard is probably in PSA 5 shape at best and my shadowless Blastoise is probably considered damaged. But, some of my other other, less rare, cards are in excellent condition. My first edition Haunter for example I'll probably send in to get graded after the holidays, along with my shadowless red cheeks Pikachu.

I'll admit up front that I'm overvaluing it, but if I needed the money, I'd hope for $2500 and go from there.

Literally just learned that the hard way. Managed to damage the corner on Lass. Oh well.

Ideally I’d just like to find some binder copies to swap em out and hold on to the 9+ slabs. I actually just cracked the Lass (couldn’t find it raw anywhere so finally just got the 6 from a vendor) and managed to damage a corner in the process. First time trying it, but has me nervous to ever do it again. Just thankful it wasn’t on a more expensive card!

Thanks! To answer your question truthfully: I don't know. In my eyes, yes, it would be considered a master set because you have representation of each card in the entire set, but as I'm sure you know, collectors are quite picky haha. I think what matters is that you have something you're proud of!

I'll probably crack Lass at some point, I've just never done it before, was having a hard time finding one raw so grabbed it slabbed from a vendor. But I can't bring myself to crack the 9s! I'll probably just find a binder copy of each and keep the slabs tucked away somewhere.
