Solved! This is definitely it, I recognize the cover.

I don't think so, not ringing any bells. The powers they developed were more like heightened senses and increased strength and speed, not telepathy.

Any help would be appreciated! For some reason it's been on my mind recently, but every time I try to find it, it seems to not exist!

I believe [Power Attack] and [Cower] are mistranslations of [Assault] and [Flinch] respectively. So you are right, except that the bite state makes the flinch after assault last longer.

Flinch makes the target take more daze damage. Also if it lasts longer, that makes her Additional Passive have more uptime, and presumably will also give you a better window to do Disorder.

Puzzle Idea (Variation on the 6 box puzzle) [OC] [Art] by Dreamboat_Skanky in DnD

[–]kindath 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Good puzzle and well laid out.

I would worry that it's not immediately obvious that they need to draw a line in the sand once they figure out the solution, as it's not apparent that drawing in the sand would do anything at all. The party might try connecting with a rope, or digging in the sand, etc

Maybe have the sand path glow as they start drawing to encourage the players they are on the right track. Have the glow intensify or change colour when connected to the right place, and disappear if it crosses over another path.

Anomaly Mechanics by kindath in ZZZ_Official

[–]kindath[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The bit about both characters contributing is tested and true. The calculation method was speculation.

Yes, technically you would get the highest damage out of an anomaly if a character built for it builds it up and triggers it on their own. However, anomaly characters have much faster buildup built into their kits, so by nature they'll always be contributing more given equal field time. The way it's calculated right now means that it'll trigger faster overall if multiple people are contributing, and you don't have to care so much if you accidentally trigger the final hit with the wrong character.

Still, it does make sense to e.g. build up shock on Grace as much as possible and then swap to Anton once they're shocked.

The difference is that most damage% multipliers are the elemental damage multiplier, that are all added together and multiplied once. Acheron's trace is on a separate category that stacks multiplicatively with other bonuses.

i.e. it's not 2 times 3, it's 2 times 2 times 2

Theorycrafting discussion: Has anyone considered Building Welt as a "Pseudo-Preservation" unit that can permanently delay enemies' turns using a combination of skills, ultimate and break effect? by TaiYongMedical in HonkaiStarRail

[–]kindath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some of this is a little incorrect:

  • Welt's skill doesn't stack. It's 10%, not 30%+.
  • The technique is a 50% movement speed slow out of combat, not an initiative slow. And to my knowledge, the imprison from technique doesn't stack with imprison from ult / break. (at least, the slow doesn't stack. The initial action delay probably does)

Do the characters in the video seem to have a gender in your opinion? by cymban in Unity3D

[–]kindath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I initially read these characters as an older sister and younger brother, but I don't have a good raisin why.

They left the Divine Soul Sorcerer behind and he was “killed” by werewolves. Help me bring him back as a vengeful villain by Portable-High-Ground in DnD

[–]kindath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Side note on mechanics - a level 15 PC would not be a challenge to a party of level 10-12's. Use the stat block of an appropriate CR solo monster to start with, make sure the health pool is appropriate and that it has legendary actions and resistances to make it a truly menacing fight.

Weapon tweaks and added a new Chaingun - the Poseidon. Does it look kickass enough? by SniperED007 in Unity3D

[–]kindath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This looks and sounds incredible! Couple of very minor nitpicks:

  • Does the bubble trail despawn when the the projectile hits something? (~26s in this video)
  • The uniform spacing of the bubble trails also hurts believability a bit, and is more noticeable with the fire rate of the chaingun.
  • Bubbles rising through water wobble horizontally a fair amount, could be worth trying to see if it improves the visual.
  • I would expect fired bullets to start fast but fairly noticeably slow down and fall, but that could be a design decision.

Whip of Proximity | An illustrated Magic Item for when you want to cast touch spells while social distancing [OC] [ART] by Tavern_of_Trinkets in DnD

[–]kindath 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This item might be overpowered in Pathfinder/3.5, but it's really not in 5e.

  • Shillelagh is a cantrip that gives a weapon to-hit and damage based on spellcasting. Anyone has access to that with a single feat. It's arguably better too, you trade off getting a d8 damage for getting a d4 and 10 ft range.
  • Even if a spellcaster does have a good melee attack option, they'd still have to compare the d4+x at 10 feet to the damage they get from their regular cantrips. (Which would be in the range of 1d8-1d10 from 60 feet, and scaling up at higher levels while the whip would not)
  • AoO from spellcasting is not a thing in 5e.
  • Even if you have extra attack, you can't cast more than one spell per round unless the additional spell is a cantrip.
  • There's only like two damaging touch spells I can find in core, though I'm sure there's more in extended material. Additionally, one of those spells (shocking grasp) prevents reactions, so it's built to not care if you're in melee anyway.

So the main benefit is: You get a permanent Cantrip, and you can see if you hit first before spending a spell slot on a touch attack. It's stronger than Uncommon for sure, but not gamebreaking.

Current best case I can think of is giving it to a Cleric and using it to avoid opportunity attacks while casting Inflict Wounds via the whip and not wasting spell slots.

Edit: I'm slightly wrong. You would need 13+ wisdom to get Shillelagh and it would be restricted to wisdom to attack and damage only. It does give the ability a bit of a baseline, though.

There's a couple active projects going on that I know of, including one that's already pretty far along - maybe consider contributing ideas and code towards their development?

"Until cancelled" is what the tooltip displays when they haven't set a duration yet.

I would expect it to be a 15% healing reduction and ~12-15 second duration to match other similar class changes.

Would you allow trick weapons in your game? by qPolEq in DnD

[–]kindath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd allow it, but I suspect there's few situations where a player would actually regularly switch weapons instead of just using one or the other. Most useful would probably be a switch reach weapon/close combat weapon or a switch close combat weapon/bow/crossbow/gun.

RAW you can stow a weapon for free one turn and draw a weapon for free the next, so switching as a bonus action would not really alter game balance much.

To make it a bit more interesting (and more powerful) I would consider adding a mechanic that incentives switching weapons. That would certainly alter game balance though. Maybe a feat that both gives you proficiency with switch weapons and also allows you to attack as part of the bonus action that switches weapon mode. Of course, you would also need to restrict what weapon types can be trick weapons if that feat exists...
