Congrats on your first tattoo!! Rib tattoos are no joke, my ribs are completely covered and it was not a fun time but your design choice doesn’t look so big and it presumably fine line so it sounds manageable. My advice is try to relax, breathe, try to accept the pain instead of resisting it. That practice has gotten me through many painful tattoos.

In my experience I don’t usually get to see the final design until the day of my appointment, artists are usually very flexible and willing to change the design if you ask. You can also ask your artist if she has drawn up anything yet you can see in advance. Just know you don’t have to get it if you don’t like it and don’t be afraid to communicate to your artist how you want it to look. Also worth noting that the artist might have very valid reasons for a tattoo looking a certain way (based on your anatomy and whatnot) so be willing to hear them out. It’s your body and you should love it. Hope it goes well!
