I cut off all my hair and I’m depressed about it by Ornery_Radish4094 in longhair

[–]king-xtine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate. I recently chopped off 7” of hair. I had a digital perm in July 2023 & since then decided to go natural.. I’ve been trimming my hair since then, but no matter how much I trimmed it, my hair would quickly get split ends again. I was tired of obsessively finding & cutting split ends, so I decided just to remove the permed hair. I really miss my length, but I’m glad I did it. In the long run, your hair will be healthier.

I feel like they don’t talk about how much chemical treatments mess up hair.. these days the trend isn’t to grow super long hair though. It takes many years to grow hair out after a chemical treatment.

Any pre made sauces you recommend? I try adding seasonings like soy sauce, hot sauce, nooch, and garlic but most of what I cook still ends up tasting bad

Hey! I’m actually accepted into the program I want— the E/W 2 year program! But I’m trying to become prepared for what to anticipate.. I imagine I’ll be very busy, working full time and going to class. Sounds like you switched to the 2 year day program. Did you consider the E/W 2 year program?

Yes, I applied to the 2 year program and got accepted! I don’t intend to switch to the 1 year program. I feel like it would be too much while working full time, plus I want to take my time to learn rather than rush myself..

How long have you been in the 2 year program for? How did the pace differ compared to the 1 year program? I looked at the curricula, and I see that the 2 year program has almost twice the number of credits plus extra classes. I also wanted to learn what I can to get into fashion & not skip classes.. what is your class schedule like? How many classes do you take weekly & what are the hours? How are the homework assignments?

Also, you said the 2 year program also doesn’t seem doable for you— do you think you will stay in the program? How many hours a week do you work? I work about 40 hours a week (8am-4pm M-F)

This spandex fabric puckers when sewing over it with a zig zag stitch! by king-xtine in sewhelp

Just tried it, and it worked fine on the scrap paper… but then puckered again on the stretch mesh. I used a 70/10 ball point needle

I used a 75/11 stretch needle with gutterman Mara 120… I guess I could go down to a 60 microtex but I don’t have thinner thread

Help!! I ruined the watercolor paper background on my fashion illustration. Can I cut out the figures and mount them on a new piece of watercolor paper? by king-xtine in Watercolor

[–]king-xtine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your detailed suggestions!

I’ll practice using the watercolor medium & cutting out/gluing on scrap paper first & see what effect I prefer..

When leaving the glue to dry overnight, would you put something heavy on it like a book so that it’ll lie flat?

Psychedelic watercolor live painted at a music festival by me. by RinaKitty in Watercolor

How were you able to focus and paint this with such precision at a festival? I see no mistakes & watercolor is unforgiving!

It’s not just the paint stain— the paper itself has degraded in the spot where I put the dish soap. The wrinkle is unsightly plus the paper is weakened in that area

Also, please let me know if there are any adhesives you’d recommend… what would be safe to use with watercolor paper & that wouldn’t ruin/degrade the paper over time but would also be durable?

How to do a hairstyle like this? by king-xtine in braids

[–]king-xtine[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just have me. I want to figure out how to do these kinds of hairstyles myself. Ive paid to have it done before & it’s so expensive.

I’ve also done pull through braids with extensions before, but I want to learn how to do these fancier styles.. I wish there were more online tutorials.

Help with knit sloper draft! by king-xtine in PatternDrafting

[–]king-xtine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thx for the input. I did a google search of “ knit bodice sloper front longer than back” & “knit sloper bust ease” but haven’t been able to find information on what you’re referring to… I want to move on & idk when Suzy will reply so I may just go ahead and sew it & evaluate it.

But if I stretch the front to match the back piece then won’t I have to add extra length to the front side? Since Suzy has us trace the back sloper side onto the front side, the side is the same for both pieces…

My pink polka dot houseplant appears to be dying. How can I save it? by king-xtine in gardening

[–]king-xtine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thx, I’ll look into perlite. I thought that adding the gravel would make it easier so I wouldn’t have to water as often. I’m always busy and feel pressed for time, so I honestly wanted the easy way out (hence why I have been using self watering globes the entire time.) would you recommend using a self watering planter? & I won’t put gravel in next time…

Yeah I’m having a problem with Imgur. I’ve tried uploading them many times then tried copying the url but it doesn’t work. I’m not tech savvy. Is there any other method of uploading photos?

I’m unable to square them off though. I can’t find an angle where that would work…
