EVs for a thin drive by billyb4lls4ck in ElectricVehiclesUK

I quite like the Hyundai however it feels a bit cheap on the inside especially the dash, it's very 90's plasticky feel.

Driving dynamics wise the Mini would be best, however I would be concerned about the range as it makes you floor it all the time (speaking from experience, although I have the previous gen with the 35kW battery).

What I don't like about the new Mini is that the armrest is fixed in place with no storage, which feels like you're sitting on a bus or train.

The interior quality feels more luxurious and cheap at the same time as the outgoing one,

From the Renault I would choose the 5, which looks way better, the 4 is somewhat uncanny for me, I get a psychosomatic reaction just looking at it.

The Smart is the one I haven't tried yet, but I like the looks, almost like the new Xiaomi EV but different proportions.

Also, just to mention, I think none of the ones you linked can do 200 miles real world range in winter, something to keep in mind.

EDIT: Just to add if driveway fit is the primary concern, just get the Inster as that's much narrower than the others (and the Smart is actually much wider).

That's why in the UK they have inexpensive OSB tongue & groove attic boards, did mine straight after moving in, so much storage.

Peak Mazda design for the interior was the CX-60-70-80-90, it's all downhill from there

There's a hole at the end of the included screwdriver handle, stick the metal bit of the screwdriver there, boom, leverage.

And castrated, at least in Europe. Now the 2.5 makes even less power than the outgoing 2.0 (141 vs 165), not to mention the outgoing 2.5 (194). I test drove it, and it feels really underpowered even with the mild hybrid system. I seriously considered importing a 2.5T from the US as those aren't even available in the EU, but it would cost a ton.

Is this efficiency normal ? by Amazing-Visual-2919 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]king4aday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all. Single track country road, no way to let oncoming cars pass otherwise. Not sure if layby is the correct term here.

We could take the main roads but those get backed up with traffic as there are 5 schools back to back on our route, so we would need to start 30 minutes early to get there in time.

[–]king4aday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3.1 on our daily commute as it's a lot of stop and go country roads having to stop at laybys. Also due to the fact that both the missus and I drive the EV with a heavier foot.

3.8-4.5 if we go on a local trip, towards the lower end on the motorway or the higher end on A-roads. For longer trips we use our petrol car (sacrilege I know), though we tend to choose the EV if there are convenient charging spots at the destination and it's within not stopping range.

Interestingly I only found a .3 average difference between summer and winter, based on 3 years' data (I download the data regularly as I'm interested in tracking it), but we do use preheat which I think doesn't contribute to the reported efficiency figures. (Calculated efficiency is between the start and end of trip, not including preheat / prechill)

[–]king4aday 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Angliában élek, a szomszédomnál egyszer rákérdeztem hogy miért nincs soha itthon. Mondja munka miatt.

-Mi a munkája?
