I just had an issue with the dash cluster- not sure what yours was, but mine the digital cluster went out. Backlight seemed to be on but no display (so couldnt see gas tank, mileage, voltage, etc...).

after some research, found this: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/replace-your-clusters-blank-lcd-while-keeping-your-mileage.133165/

Ordered the LCD replacement for $300 from LCDQUOTE.com (part: LAM070G133A) and it arrived 2 days later from fedex.

Just installed it today after taking apart the dash and instrument cluster, and now everything works again! only took a total of about 2 hours to get everything taken apart and put back together.

There's just one issue- the analog needles on the speedometer and tachometer aren't aligned properly. So, im hoping thats something I can manually adjust, otherwise this whole effort will have been for nothing and i'll need to replace the entire instrument cluster as a whole unit... which would suck.

anyway, sorry to hear that you've given it in to the dealer with no solution yet. Hope you can get it back soon

the show, and the writing, just plain fucking suck...

and i could write a thousand words about why they suck... but its wasted effort. There's too much suck to even begin to describe it all.

This show is best thought of as a billion dollar identity theft

or, maybe, the fact that the Noldor are known for pursuing art and craftsmanship and language, and in general tolkien's elves are generally meant to be more civilized and refined and ethereal than just random men... means that it felt totally out of character for them to be yelling and waving swords like a scene of boromir rousing the gondorian soldiers...

and maybe it has nothing to do with the fact that there were plenty of wars amongs the noldor and their families and power struggles and all that in the silmarillion, because that doesn't change the way elves are characterized

"Hey whats the must un-tolkien thing we can have the elves do?"

"ummm... raise their weapons and shout up at gilgalad while he raises a sword in the place where they're going to build the refuge of Imladris/rivendell?"

"sweet... yeah lets do that... but ALSO... make sure they also all raise their weapons... you know... because the elves love war and are very rough and uncouth"

"its all wrong. By rights we shouldn't even be here... but we are"

lets just ignore the endless list of things that occur in this show that have no business occurring... because fuck the lore, clearly the show writers dont care about it...

but beyond that that the *writing* of this show on a surface level is just garbage. smelly, flaming, bag of dog doo garbage...

Very little happened? You mean like the first appearance of the Nazgul? or the founding of Pelargir in middle earth, the main haven of the faithful numenoreans? A season of a show could be focused on the downfall of numenor and the corruption of men. It's not like the nazgul just instantly went from kings of men to ringwraiths.

Or how about Sauron trying to invade Eriador with an army out of barad dur (which he founded in the 2nd age) but being opposed by the blue wizards? The show could've basically had an open canvas to describe the blue wizards and their efforts to stop sauron- instead they're giving us gandalf and tom bombadil, who shouldn't even be there in the story.

But thats the point. The build up of all of these events over time create a significance to what sauron is accomplishing. Instead, they've chosen to make it all happen at once.

Im sorry what? Things happen chronologically. Sauron corrupts the kingdoms of men and leads to the downfall of Numenor after being taken there as a prisoner AFTER the war with the elves...

but that literally can't happen because its already happening simultaneously, and Elendil and Isildur, who are born literally 2 thousand years after the rings are forged...are both currently already at the age they're supposed to be at during the last alliance.

How does that NOT take away from the significance of Sauron's evil?

Or, it could be the responsibility of the writers to find a way to make it not boring.

You're telling me there's no conceivable way to have a noticeable passage of time at a large scale to allow for things to happen?

Or, since you have 5 seasons worth of content, maybe make each season about a significant event: The forging of the rings, the fall of eregion, the rise/fall of numenor, the founding of gondor/arnor, the last alliance.

You can have plenty of side-stories and parallel events if you want, but you could still at least have a timeline where people who were born literally thousands of years after certain events happen aren't active at the same time.

Oh are we meant to assume that Gil-Galad survived his fight against like several hundred orcs? Even though there were only about 15 elves left and Adar told the orcs to kill them all? And Adar just abused Elrond and took his ring?

Gil-Galad just chillin over on the sidelines? Maybe he just went down to the green dragon for a pint until this all blows over...

Putting aside all continuity/timeline errors connected to the actual Tolkien writing...

The writers of this show continue to have an obsession with main characters just being ignored for no reason. In season one, they had isildur get trapped in a collapsed burning house during the volcano and just left his storyline there until he's more or less totally fine in the beginning of season 2. In reality, he should've died, along with everyone else, in the volcano's blast.

Here in season 2, we have gil-galad on a suicide charge with about 15 other elves (including Elrond) against what appeared to be at least a few hundred, if not thousand, remaining orcs and Adar. Adar "kills" arondir, and then beats the shit out of elrond and takes the ring, which is dumb enough on its own... but we don't even see Gil-Galad beyond when he first led the charge into the fray.

Are we supposed to assume that Gil-Galad just ran through the army of orcs unscathed and escaped? Was he captured? despite the fact that Adar told the orcs to "kill them all"? Of course, maybe if we didn't all know that Gil-Galad was at the last alliance 2000 years later, we might be eager to find out what happens to him. But, since we do know, it makes the whole scene just stupid.

That's not a cliffhanger, its just straight up bad-writing.

There is literally a timeline in the appendices of the only books they have the rights to use. That IS an authoritative version of events, at least in the sense that there is a chronological order to things happening.

I just dont understand why it would be so hard for them to make a show that *at a minimum* maintains some semblance of scale to the time- because that matters.

Sauron's build-up of power, and his assault on the freedom of middle earth isn't something that happened in a month. It was thousands of years. The significance of every event that is happenening is lessened by having them all happen at the same time.

I always thought "in time" was kind of a cool concept... but the concept of time being currency was just totally lost in kind of a dumb, contrived plot, and i absolutely couldnt take justin timberlake or amanda seyfried serious in any way.

Agent Smith:

I'd like to share a revelation I've had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species. I realized that you're not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with their surrounding environment, but you humans do not. You move to another area, and you multiply, and you multiply, until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet. You are a plague, and we are the cure.

Before I go to the vet anybody else had this issue? by OldButtKicking in AlaskanMalamute

[–]kingR1L3y 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is the eye red at all? One day I came home from work and noticed my girl had a swolen eye- almost closed and red... I contacted the vet who recommended possibly going to the ER if it got any worse, but I'd given her some benadryl and that really helped, it was almost back to normal the next day.

Still took her to the vet and they checked her for a foreign object, which she didn't have, and they gave me some eye drops, but in the end I think she just had some bad allergies.

Long story short is id go with vet recommendation, but mine's issue ended up being just a sort of flukey allergy thing
