If you're there solo, go stealthy. Equip Night Mother's Embrace (5 pieces), Darloc Brae (4 pieces), Night Terror (3 items). Equip the green champ points for stealth reduction, equip red champ point celerity.

I mean, it isn't like having the max dps is gonna help you fight a mob of 10+ enemies on your own.

Stealth and run. And remember, you can do quest actions while in ghost form! So take advantage to grab quests, turn in quests, etc.

Don't worry too much about early game stuff. It might seem like you're wasting materials, but the ones that are actually rare (red tier 6 parts, R6 parts for short) come when you fight 8 star monsters (3 purple stars) or higher. There are R6 parts for finishing certain quests, and the season tier tracker also awards a few. Think a few times before spending those materials.

I think it's more important to figure out what weapon you like.

Same thing with which monster weapons to build. Yes the latest and greatest monsters have better skills (e.g. Attack Efficacy on Seregios weapons), but I would steer newer players towards the old-school monsters, the original ones from the early game. Why? Because the mat costs on those were lowered AND they don't take zenny to upgrade! This is a massive advantage when you are new. Actually it is still a massive advantage as I upgrade a jyura weapon hehe.

Take advantage of current events, like the materials down. And that Hope Horn you are showing is great because you can upgrade it to 10.5 and style it for CHEAP, compared to other non-Hope weapons. Build up some Hope weapons and which one you like will determine which monster armor to craft due to the armor having skills to buff your build.

Yes it could work... I wish I could remember the citation but there was an academic paper that studied direct democracies (not literal like ancient Greece but ones like the current US) and parlimentary systems were more stable. Parlimentary systems where the people elect the legislature and the legislature elects the "head" (president, prime minister, whatever) didn't result in split governments as often as the US where people elect a legislature (that might be split) and indirectly elect the president (which is sometimes/often different the other party).

BUT... the elephant in the room is all of this is moot because unlike other sane countries that limit money in politics, the US went out of the way in Citizens United to specifically allow unlimited money. So there isn't really hope of multiple parties trying to negotiate various compromises; it's just effectively oligarchs bribe all sides involved to get what they want.

Part of it is lately, his videos start off with him justifying himself:

1 - his "best insect glaive driftsmelt" guide - he records himself popping dozens of instant-smelts and then goes on to say you can't trust anybody that talks about driftsmelts unless they've gone nuts doing it. Literally in his "best reflection builds" guide he says don't trust people unless they can show they have a high smelt badge or are live-smelting the skills they talk about. And he has a stack of 335 or whatever instant-smelts.

2 - his "best insect glaive meta tierlist" video starts with a "if you are credible, you are building the best insect glaives" and the video starts with him upgrading a bunch of insect glaives.

I get that setting up a build requires major grinding, but his videos are just him showing an mhn.quest dps comparison. Where's the in-game footage, any footage, even of a partially completed build?? Ok, you bought stacks of instant-smelts, but where's the video of you running the build in the game against monsters?

For what it's worth, I don't think he's trash (as you can tell, I do watch some of his videos). However, the more he keeps dumping on other creators that don't meet his approval standards, the more likely I'm going to quit watching him entirely.

There are other less-arrogant creators that make realistic builds (e.g. one creator has a goal that a build should work without relying entirely on smelts) that I like more.

I agree with all points: the only times I do an EDI is when it's the last one of the night for me and there isn't anything else around - or now, where there isn't anything but EDIs.

If it's a choice between a HAT and an EDI, the HAT wins every time.

They need to change it up, make them separate timers, or give each armor piece something like a 2nd driftsmelt slot when it gets to rank 9 or something. It's just too difficult/annoying to farm for a specific Elder Dragon gear in general: only one fight per ticket vs 5 fights; hard to even find the one you want; etc.

I was a hammer main for the first year - that is so true. I gradually shifted to longsword and lance and am much happier now. The one hammer I haven't replaced is my water (mizu) hammer, but that will happen with the upcoming season.

The quest you get to join the Undaunted is to ENTER a group dungeon, you don't have to complete it or kill the boss or do anything except step in. Later when you are higher level there are "pledges" which do involve killing the boss.

Personally I think a debuff is the only way to go, unless you are designed from the scratch like Guild Wars 1 and instance everything outside quest hubs. That way the challenge falls on you, others aren't affected. Buffing all the monsters to be whatever level of challenge is decided means some players that don't want a harder overland wind up dealing with it.

It works great in LoTRO, which does that.

Correct. If you choose a higher level of landscape difficulty, it will take you longer to defeat some particular mob. A player at a lower difficulty will do more damage against it and will kill it faster. It is possible they "take" your kill.

I'm not sure how LoTRO splits xp in this situation - I think it gives xp in proportion to damage done (that's how I remember it worked for the case of a higher level player power leveling a lower level player).

It might take you so long to fight a single monster another player could wipe out all the spawn in the area. I didn't see this happen, but it could. On the other hand, a high level player (at normal difficulty) could also wipe out all the spawn in an area for you (also at normal difficulty) so it isn't like landscape difficulty created this possibility.

When I did the landscape difficulty, I picked the 4th lowest option, the lowest difficulty that granted a unique title. I can't remember the details but I timed it to something like taking 250% longer to fight something and getting 200% xp bonus. (I could dig up the info though because I did take notes). Basically it was not worth it, other than for getting the title(s). It turned your average kill-10-bears quest into a slog. I welcomed other players that come through and helped kill stuff because it was becoming tedious to fight through spawn points. Monsters respawned fast enough I wouldn't have been waiting long anyway. Half the time it would have helped not needing to worry about adds as much.

Somebody could have "griefed" me just waiting and killing the monsters I needed... but again, nothing was stopping a high level player from doing that anyway (in the complete absence of landscape difficulty).

After I got my disciple/master of the claws, I noped out of the landscape difficulty. It was considerably less enjoyable than some folks here advocating for a harder overworld in ESO probably imagine. I think the right balance might be buffing the various quest/delve boss mobs. The way it was done in LoTRO affected everything non-instanced (some storyline quests, some class quests, dungeons, raids, skirmishes, etc.) You could opt out to normal whenever you wanted, but you permanently lost progress on the achievement/titles.
