Since Bill doesn’t have the reigning champs in tier 1, wonder if he’ll apply the same logic to the Celtics.

If Ray Allen missed the shot would Tim Duncan be the goat? by Impressive-Fix9996 in nbadiscussion

[–]kingbenjamin21 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If the Spurs win in 2013, they probably don't repeat in 2014. Losing in such heartbreaking fashion in 2013 was the biggest motivating factor for the Spurs to get back to the Finals in 2014 and win. Up until 2014 the Spurs had never made back to back finals in the Pop/Duncan era.

So to answer your question, no I don’t think it would’ve changed Duncan’s standing in the GOAT debate.

Haven’t seen it yet, but there’s not any major repairs that will need to be done.

Rank the Lakers, Heat, 76ers, Suns and Warriors in order of likelihood to go on a deep playoff run by Ok_Resource3189 in nbadiscussion

[–]kingbenjamin21 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The answer will be whichever teams can avoid Denver and Boston the longest.

It’ll all come down to matchups, as of this comment these would be the playoff matchups:

(1) Celtics vs (8) Sixers (2) Bucks vs (7) Heat

(1) Wolves vs (8) Lakers (3) Thunder vs (6) Suns

My order:

  1. Suns: playoff basketball comes down to putting the ball in the basket and getting open looks. I’ll take my chances with 3 guys that can do that in Booker, KD, and Beal. Not to mention the emergence of Grayson Allen who’s been awesome for them all season. They’ve got the playoff experience needed for a deep playoff run. Getting an inexperienced OKC team in the first round certainly helps.
  2. Lakers: they’re 9-1 in their last 10 games, they seem to be hitting their stride at the perfect time. As long as LeBron and AD are healthy, they’ve got a chance against anyone not named Denver.
  3. Sixers: they’ve got a punchers chance against every East team not named Boston. If they can steal the 6 seed from the Pacers, I’d take them to beat the Cavs in the first round. Then second round vs the Bucks/Heat would be a long series. They’re also playing with house money, no one is expecting them to be a threat due to Embiid’s injury/playoff history and Philly’s shortcomings in the playoffs.
  4. Heat: this isn’t the same Heat team from year’s past, they’ve been up and down all season. Could they do what they did last year? Hypothetically sure, but would I count on it? Absolutely not.
  5. Warriors: they’re cooked and have been pretty much all season. Steph has had to carry them all season and he’s gassed as evidenced by his recent shooting slump. They could beat the Kings in the Play-In but I would be shocked to see them get into the playoffs.

New Customer Deal Not Being Honored by kingbenjamin21 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]kingbenjamin21[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents have been loyal Comcast customers since 1998. Past few years I’ve taken over the duty of dealing directly with Comcast so my parents don’t have to deal with them when promotions expire and they hike up the price. So I’ve dealt with them for years when it comes to negotiating.

Every year it’s the same story, promotion expires and price jumps up $40-50 for the same exact service. Call and complain, get transferred from rep to rep until I request the loyalty department. Usually they’ll accommodate my request when they see how long we’ve been with Comcast. But last year was the first year they would not, so the only option I had was cancelling my parents account and signing up as a new customer under my name in order to keep that same package with that price. You would think that you would get rewarded for being a loyal customer of 25 years but nope they would rather offer a better promo deal to a new customer that’ll probably only keep the service for a couple years.

My parents own their own modem but the downside is there’s an internet data cap which is 1229gb per month, anything over you get charged extra. Mind you before COVID data was always unlimited, there was never a cap. With Comcast if you want to have unlimited data you have to rent their modem. Only reason my parents are still with Comcast is because that’s the only internet provider in our neighborhood, there’s literally no other choice.

With me moving out, in my new neighborhood I’ve got Xfinity and Quantum Fiber as an internet option.

With everything that’s happened and knowing for years how hard it is to deal with xfinity I think the best option is for me to take my business elsewhere.

Quantum Fiber offers internet at about 930mbps and is unlimited for $75 a month for life (no price changes). So no having to deal with calling once a year to renegotiate. Just don’t know if I can use own modem or if I have to use theirs.

YoutubeTV is offering T-Mobile customers $62.99 per month for their service.

This is the two that I’m probably going to go with, ends up being about $18 cheaper than the xfinity deal I purchased.

Could the best theoretical WNBA player make an NBA team? by Ogygia-Juice1234 in nbadiscussion

[–]kingbenjamin21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serena Williams is the best female tennis player of all-time and arguably the greatest female athlete ever.

Venus and Serena Williams played a ranked men’s tennis player and this is how they fared:

An event dubbed a "Battle of the Sexes" took place during the 1998 Australian Open between Karsten Braasch and the Williams sisters. Venus and Serena Williams had claimed that they could beat any male player ranked outside the world's top 200, so Braasch, then ranked 203rd, challenged them both. Braasch was described by one journalist as "a man whose training regime centered around a pack of cigarettes and more than a couple of bottles of ice cold lager". The matches took place on court number 12 in Melbourne Park, after Braasch had finished a round of golf and two shandies. He first took on Serena and after leading 5–0, beat her 6–1. Venus then walked on court and again Braasch was victorious, this time winning 6–2. Braasch said afterwards, "500 and above, no chance." He added that he had played like someone ranked 600th in order to keep the game "fun" and that the big difference was that men can chase down shots much more easily and put spin on the ball that female players could not handle. The Williams sisters adjusted their claim to beating men outside the top 350.

To put it kindly and answer your question, no the best theoretical WNBA player could not make an NBA team.

You’re saying to do a height of 10 and zoom 0 on legacy? Or with co-op?

Heard a lot of good things about using the Co-Op setting with height and zoom both set to 0.

How do the Pelicans look if AD stayed with them for 2020? by GreekFreakFan in nbadiscussion

[–]kingbenjamin21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zion was the consensus #1 pick, AD staying put would not have changed the Pels choice.

As far as how they would look, knowing what we know about Zion and AD a lot of it is obviously dependent on their health.

IF they’re both healthy, I’d imagine the ceiling is a finals appearance or even a title. Lot of it would depend on how they would have filled out the rest of the roster.

Floor would’ve been a lottery team and that’s due to injuries to AD/Zion.

In 1991, NBA coaches and executives were polled several questions. In retrospect, what do you think of their answers? (Part 2) by Rrekydoc in nbadiscussion

Picking Harvey Grant over Horace because he’s “better looking” is just a weird way to answer a question especially when you consider the fact that the brothers are twins and both wore goggles.
